So finally saw it today. I do not follow the X-Men storyline. I do not remember much about the other Wolverine and X-Men movies so I could not connect the dots. But the movie was fun overall.
Saw the post credit sequence featuring Magneto and Professor X? Could not make any sense out of it :D

Ideally, to understand this is the order you should probably watch the movies in this order (Bracket has actual release order).
(4)Wolverine:Origins - How wolverine became so , Weapon X project (i.e. experimentation on mutants, intro of William Stryker)
(5)X-Men:First Class - How Professor X/Magneto became so - and why their love/hate relationship
(1)X-Men 1 - X-Men(prof X) Vs brotherhood (magneto)
(2)X-Men 2:United - (X-Men & brotherhood) Vs William Stryker (Weapon X program guy)
(3)X-Men 3:The last stand - X-Men Vs brotherhood
(6)The Wolverine - Stand Alone plot, of someone trying to get Wolverine's healing abilities
Now, the next one, if it follows the comics, should be watched at the end, as it is about future guys trying to warn older guys to "not" to do something or do something in order to prevent and change the timeline.
(7)Days of Future Past

I do not like most of the other actors in the X-Men series otherwise I would have watched it all again.

Well, I was just connecting the dots for anyone interested, though in reality in one there is no point. From what I understand these movies do not follow the comics fully. Plus the comics (all comics) have reboots and multiple plot lines in any case.
And again, like I said in said in some other threads. Sci-Fi movies should no longer be seen to understand the full storyline, join the dots and for "completion". As the filmmakers will never end it as long as its successful or even otherwise will leave loose ends for potential sequels, and we will have always have sequels/reboots etc changing the flow.

Marvel is doing the insane thing of running their stories on multiple platforms. We have one or two movies per year. And then we have the Agents of Shield series on ABC. And they have just signed on a deal with Netflix to bring four new series dedicated to four different smaller superheroes including Daredevil.
Now Netflix does not sell their shows so the only way to watch it is to pirate.

Sci-Fi movies were one genre where one needed to carry their brains with them when they walk in, to understand the plot, characters and the storyline. All that is slowly going for a toss, and its becoming meaningless. Soon (if not already), all these movies will be only like the masala entertainers where you just enjoy the moments in the movie (Hulk Smash).
I guess sci-fi was a popular genre only among nerds earlier, and now is reaching more audiences, hence the focus is being lost a bit, and the focus is on the entertainment than the plot, storyline etc.

:
Thor movie is supposed to have a connection with the next episode of Marvel Agents of Shield!
