@socrates Never trust Airtel/Voda people at showroom, they want to meet their postpaid targets, so they will try to come up with excuses like anything. One guy even gave crap that we have seen 90% rejections in MNP from external postpaid to our prepaid. I told him, that we would rather loose the number than go for postpaid. We just need to make sure we have made the right amount of payments using math and we should be good to go.

Coming to the original issue. I am confused as to what to do/suggest. If it was like the olden days of dozen providers could have moved to something else. Here its like a slasher horror movie, one character is dying after the other.

Going to Airtel store tomorrow for a family member, let's see what variety of BS they hand out😡. Will be paying this month's bill in advance (before the due date).
There seems no consistency, jio say possible whereas airtel says not possible to port from postpaid to prepaid of a different service provider.

Now the call we have to make is NOT about the speeds we get or whether we are happy/sad but about what we perceive as the future of our service provider. And accordingly take a call. For example in our area even if speeds were not bad VIL systems are so crappy they can only give grief. Also the way I perceive is, is that VIL will be made to survive but before QoS gets better it will get worse before improving (hopefully). Plus the existing management is at best can be called duffers. So I don't have any faith in it either. Infact their style of operations is a great case study for management students of what not to do.

I ported from Vodafone postpaid to Airtel prepaid back in December. Was a very smooth no fuss process. Only hickup was that Vodafone called and tried to lie by saying you can only shift from Postpaid to postpaid since we have to send request that way. They tried to make me sms "STOP MNP" but I refused. I told them to send whatever request they want to. Transfer happened. Just make sure your bills are paid in advance.

Went to the Airtel Express shop at Shivaji park Mumbai. Address:
Flat No.1 & 1A, Bhaskar Bhuwan,233, L.J. Road,Mahim, Mumbai, Mahim ARC, Maharashtra 400016
I was told Vodafone postpaid to Airtel prepaid can't be done. A postpaid plan 399-/ was being pushed. Some story of shop going to be renovated so we can't do porting to prepaid was given to me. V disappointed. Also prepaid will be available only after May. I don't understand what's the connection between their store renovation & porting to prepaid. Total load of BS.
GAve my feedback to Airtel via DM on twitter.

I ported out of Vodafone without making any advance payment. Received the final bill after the porting was complete and then paid it. There was a bit of delay receiving the security deposit though. Customer Care kept asking me to wait, and would not even provide me the tracking details of courier. Complained a couple of times then received tracking details and the cheque came shortly thereafter.
