Torrents begin very fast, but get painfully slow gradually

Okay. This is strange and I am facing the exact problem. Am on a 2Mbps UL line. As mentioned by the OP, I get 230 to 280 kBps during the initial 10 minutes. Then, the speed goes to 50 to 150 kBps range. I tried enabling / disabling the encryption levels in the torrent client. Tried to limit the upload speeds too. Nothing seems to be working. I know Airtel uses throttling mechanisms. However, encrypting the download should circumvent the tactics deployed by those machinery, right? It is not occurring though.

exactly same problem here also.tested on different torrents on both public and private trackers. torrents start fast on private tracker but within 15 mins speed drops to about 10kBps from 70kBps.on public tracker m not able to connect to seeders. there are aprrox 4000 seeders and 3000 leechers and download is not starting.port is already forwarded. dont knw wat airtel is up to.last month i was getting good speeds on torrents .

How many of you facing this issue are using uTorrent? I too have this kind of issue while using uTorrent, the speed however goes down but returns to normal after a while and then repeats, more like a see-saw. On Vuze the speed remains constant throughout.

hmmm this is strange and weird!! :O

m downloading inception movie...when i started the torrent i was connected with seeders from different countries and my download speed was like 5 to 10Kbps. and after sometime speed dropped.
then i restarted the torrent and now i m connected to seeders and leechers from airtel broadband only and m getting normal download speed now i.e. 65kBps.

so i guess airtel is not throttling my speed. its the issue with uttorrent.

ok seems like a lot of people have this problem. and i am guessing all of the above are on airtel... so i am certain these guys are port throttling or something as torrents generally connect to higher ports also encryption doesnt make any difference.my torrents go up and down between 20KBps to 130KBps. something screwy around here i say :(

Me too facing similar kind of problem on my 2mbps line.. For the first 10 mins the speeds would be around 240KBps suddenly from then it drops to 10KBps.. I have tried all the tricks but none have worked..

tried using vuze on maverick still same speeds. 120~20kBs fluctuating nothing constant like the http downloads

use the software GREEDYTORRENT AND SET 5 TIMES OF DOWNLOAD AS UPLOAD SPEED......google 'greedytorrent' and install software....in their home page they have nice video...may work for you(100% working for me during slow download time.....)

Can't rep on the forum, else I would have. GreedyTorrent works like a charm, and has definitely addressed my ratio - if not my guilt for not giving 'back' to the torrent community :D

Any body checked the video on GREEDYTORRENT site.....check it....also put private tracker list may improve your speed my detecting more seeds(if the seed is from your parent network means SURE you speed will increase a LOT)
