TPF v/s Airtel - Long term review and comparison (Pick your poison)

@theOne235 how's the browsing experience for you? Does it feel slow? Do videos buffer on youtube?
Btw 50 ping sounds about right from kolkata to singapore server. Even for mumbai server its acceptable given the physical distance.
Since when did TPF adapt the LCO model? I thought they provided direct connections?
 
For me XCloud ping is 7-10ms but I think thats because servers are in same city as I'm in :) @theOne235 from Kolkata to Pune or Chennai 40ms is decent only I think.

I earlier had Alliance broadband and I used to see around 29-30 ms to AWS mumbai servers. Due to instability I switched to TPF. Thereafter, that latency has increased a bit for almost all cloud providers in India.
May be Alliance had a good peering with AWS. 🤔
But doesn't TPF peer with cloud providers? What about airtel?
 
Guys I have 3 options at my house in Pune. Airtel, Microscan and LCO (Apsara Net) what should ve my best bet? Airtel is costliest followed by Microscan and LCO is cheapest. Right now I have Jio and their plans are ridiculous. Why do they force OTT when I am not interested?
 
I'd recommend microscan but you should try asking around your neighbourhood for opinions because ymmv depends on your location.
 
LCO is using what? If its Gazon then I've had good exp with them @akshay71 but I've heard microscan is good too. Keep Airtel last option.

Are you sure TPF uses DPI in their routes?
Can it be the reason the pings are 6-8 ms higher compared to local broadband operators?

Yes they do heavy DPI but i am not sure if that is the reason for higher ping. Poor routing is more likely the cause maybe there is some additonal hop. I have used Tata for a very long time and apart from a few issues it has worked well for me. Not a gamer but for me the pings were same as Airtel.
It could also be due to poor hardware because I noticed a drop in latency when I set their Nokia router in bridge mode and dialed PPPoE from my own router. Do a traceroute you will get to know.
Unless you are a competitive gamer, a difference of 6-8ms is not very noticeable. if the overall connection is working well for you with no major downtime then you are good to go.
