Trai announces quality service rules for DTH: Tata Sky DTH

Then it that case we can say Tata Sky is also provdiing channels on A la carte basis, but the problem is that we are forced to purchase it for 1 year and again this channels are not on individual basis but whole bunch needs to be purchased - therefore although if anyone is interested in 9X (only) he is forced to purchase whole bunch of New channels

The TRAI guidelines regarding a-la-carte channels only applies to the DTH operator-Channel broadcaster relationship. It HAS NOTHING TO DO (Yes, I am shouting) with the DTH subscriber. Everybody here should take note of this. I have already written about it many times in different threads in the Tata Sky and Dish Tv forums. Search for it and you will find it.

Well, there are two separate TRAI guidelines applicable from December 1, 2007. One is the QoS (Quality of Service) guidelines which talks about how DTH operators should deal with customers. The other is the a-la-carte one which every one is assuming applies to us subscribers.

This post is regarding the QoS guideline -

And this is the one regarding the a-la-carte guideline -

It's only a matter of time before the a-la-carte system is extended to the DTH subscribers. With channels increasing at such a fast rate and the extension to CAS getting delayed , existing dth operators and new entrants Reliance and Airtel will gain a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if DTH slowly takes over the cable system in the Metro's.Off topic but England have failed to qualify for Euro 2008 and it really made my day. I won't be missing the repeat of the match telecast at 6.30 pm today. Cheers to Croatia. :D

Ooh aah ouch.... thats bad. TRAI is supposed to stand for the customers and not only for the DTH players...
@vissu, I saw your post just now only, yes a-la-carte means just what you order for and not any package.

wow. lets see what my cable operator does. he charges me 360 and new trai order states 260 plus tax max. now i am sure he wud find an escape route in that. he will say this tax and that tax.
