Hi,I had bought a new laptop with linux installed on it. I had removed the linus and successfully installed XP SP2 on it. The hard disk capacity is 160 GB.Now I want to make 4-5 partitions of my hard disk but I am very confused what kind of partition should i make.I am using Paragon Partition Manager, It asks for primary, expended or logical types.:wall:Help me out !!!

hai guys i have purchased a COMPAQ PC my Hard Disk Capacity is 250 GB. but i am having only 233Gb. what happen to remaining 17 GB how can i recover it.

Well a very simple answer would be Metric system (Kilo=1000, Mega=1000Kilo, Giga=1000Mega) and Computer system (2 the power n) here Kilo=1024, Mega=1024Kilo, Giga=1024Mega...Now when they say it's 250GB they say it in metric system not in computer system. That's whey now they have new system to differenciate metric system from computer system. they say GiB for computer and GB for metric. Now see the Math:

250GB (Metric UNIT)=250X1000X1000X1000 Byte (HDD sellers use Metric system)
When you format it with Computer (It will use 2 to power N) and hence 250,000,000,000/1024X1024X1024 becomes 233 GiB (but it's still 250 GB in metric system) simple:P

people who buy 750 gb and 1 tb drives and dont know about the "scam" will be really pissed at their lost space :)
