Unable to access many websites on my Jio Fibre connection.

Hello.

I got my installation done yesterday and didn't bother checking whether everything was working properly at that time as WhatsApp and YouTube were working fine.

So now when I'm trying to browse the internet, I found out that I'm unable to access almost all of the websites that I regularly used previously. I get the error - "this site can't be reached" whenever I tried loading any website.

I can only load these websites successfully once in every 30 attempts or so. The only website that I'm able to access all the time without any issues is Google.

As suggested in several other tech websites, I changed my DNS setting and cleared cache and cookies of the browser but neither made any difference.

Is there some other way to solve this issue? And is this a common problem among Jio Fibre users?

Contact Jio customer care.

without knowing which sites you cannot access its hard to give any solution. can you ping those sites ?

Open cmd - ping google.com -t
to check dns issue nslookup google.com

P2P domains are blocked on most isps. List other domains that are blocked for you.

I also am facing the same issue and tried changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 in IPv4 and IPv6 but I still faced the issues. Sites like Roblox.com, Riot.com, Epic.com, Steam.com, Disocord.com and many other sites which used to work for me have stopped working in the past few days I don't know what seems to be the issue. Is there any solution for this or should I just change me network provider(JIO).

While this is an old thread, and I don't have Jio, I do believe the explanation still applies.

Understand that changing your DNS in the Windows LAN doesn't mean that you are definitely bypassing your ISPs DNS. Your LAN, while still obeying your settings, is still forwarding requests to your ONT first i.e Default Gateway. If the DNS settings on that device is enforced to go to your ISP's DNS server, it won't matter and you will face unpredictable web issues.

As far as I understand, Jio and Airtel have started restricting users in this regard by heavily locking down the UI of the provided ONTs. To the point that even NOC can't setup your preferred DNS as even they don't have that access apparently. Your only options for now, is to either buy a new router and switch the ISP's ONT to bridge mode to enforce your own DNS settings, or... just make peace with the fact that you now live in a walled garden where big ISPs decide what is good and what is not good for you.
