So, I first tried airtel fiber. They are unable to give a connection citing the dp box is full.( Apparently they are using a very old infra)
I then tried jio fiber. ( Entered the contact details on their website). A guy came the next morning and told its available and took the request for a new connection. I paid for 3 months. ( In fact, I got a lot of calls from different jio people for the same. I wonder why they dont assign it to a particular centre/individual). The installation was scheduled for today. The installation guy calls me up asks for the name of the person who took the request. After a while, I get a message saying its cancelled due to technical reasons. When I called him, he was unable to give a convincing reply. I then spoke the guy who took the request. He says, there was only 1 port available and some other customer booked in that window.

In 2023, I find it hard to believe they cannot give new connections. Why cant they upgrade their capacity, considering they are losing customers. Is this a common issue? (Its a prime location though.). What is the solution?. I was never keen on smaller providers. But looks like there is no option but to go with one of them. Who do you think is the next best provider among the rest?
Any help will be appreciated.

For Jio also cc a mail to jiofiber@ril.com + appelate authority of your state
for Airtel also cc to this
also if you have a Twitter account tag DOT INDIA they reply instantly and it's taken quite seriously.
1st decide which company you plan to go for, on Twitter also tag respective company support handles.

I see that you live in bangalore, why don't you switch to ACT Fibernet? They are pretty good in my experience and they don't make such excuses for not giving connection. I remember they were super prompt in setting up the DP box in my building back when I was in blr in 2021.
If you have the time and energy to escalate then go for it, otherwise move to some local ISP or ACT/Hathway. Both these ISPs are pretty popular in Bangalore and internet should work just the same as Airtel or Jio.

I am seeing these kind of posts every other day on the forum. I understand that people are really eager to get Airtel/Jio Fiber because of the marketing impact but I fail to understand that why is everyone just running behind getting a connection from them. I mean most of the local ISPs are also FTTH now and I am pretty sure one won't notice a huge difference in terms of raw internet performance.

We must remember that it is a consumer's market and if any brand is not willing to provide their service even after multiple requests and advanced payment then one should move to a different provider who is interested in serving.

You can also have a look at Tata Play Fiber and Excitel if they serve your building but ACT is the safest option imo. I can vouch for ACT personally because internet works super well and they are prompt in resolving issues in most of the parts of Bengaluru.

Thanks a lot ritwik, anmol and rajat for the input. I am not sure if its appropriate to raise complaint in pgportal since its about the availability of the ports.
As for the emailing them, do you think they will even read it, let alone following up?. Has anyone tried before?

You are absolutely right rajat. When they themselves are not keen on customer acquisition, we should move on. I am actually shocked at airtel. They didn't mind at all when I asked to discontinue the connection. ( Been with with them for more than 2 decades, broadband and multiple post paid mobile connections.)
The only reason why I am keen on jio ( after airtel) is that, they have this dth and setup top box integrated. Tata play was my next preferred option. But they dont have presence here. So I might go for ACT. Thanks for the feedback

yes all the mails above work have experienced it personally. anyways if you want to complain to cpgrams
resolution is within 24 hrs and yes there is a option for delay in new bb connection .
They did install a new fat for my relative In Delhi in august when he complained on cpgrams.
else you always have ACT. @kprudp

Unfortunately it didn't help.
I have a doubt. Is it fair to assume airfiber is feasible assuming fiber is present in the area (but port is full?)
I know I can ask them. But it will be of no use since they ( the sales team) are only interested in doing the KYC and selling a connection. ( doesnt matter whether it will be installed). Looks like thats the metric they use. I had applied for jiofiber the second time after the original was cancelled due to port issue. He they its feasible and even assured a new box will be installed even its full. But the same old story. They cancelled it citing technical reasons.

same thing happened to me but i got hold on Team lead in my area for jio. He spliced one more port in the box and i got the connection. the box was having just 4 connections, so because of that he created new port.

after that they installed 2 more boxes at the same place :P so total got 20 connections in my area and later on they upgraded the ports to 64

@kprudp Airfiber has nothing to do with JioFiber. Airfiber is based on 5G, so if it is available in your location then you probably can take the connection. Jio guys might be promoting it as "the new tech" or "upgrade from JioFiber", but it is not as good as FTTH one, or even close. Considering the reviews people posted here, I would say to stay away from Jio Airfiber.

Same thing happened to me, I was previously airfiber user and i didn't like the speed and latency and now when I booked the wifi the executive told fiber optic is available and I paid 3 month advance , when the installation engineer called me he said the DP box is full and only airfiber can be installed, appellate authority just say that this is our priority concern and etc. idk what to do
