I have AVG version 8.0 & i am unable to surf net when i enable web protection. can someone please suggest a solution

in the above screen u can see that web shield is enabled

if i enable web protection, then i cant surf the net
it gives an error of forbidden or unauthorized

also if i go to advanced settings & try to exclude some IP's after enabling web protection, still it doesn't work

here i added my lan ip & my default gateway
i had even tried my dns servers (i am a network noob)
i dont know which ip to add

as far as my wan ip goes, its dynamic,

so what do i do?
am i overlooking something?

btw i also have eset smart security installed. dunno if the duo together are a problem

hmm..u r running 2 antivirus?? it might conflict?? uninstall anyone of them and try again..

just now i connected my pc through a Linksys router & enabled web protection & now its working.i dont like to keep my router on throughout because i rarely use net thru wifi on my laptop. so i generally keep it disconnected.dont know why this vague behaviour?btw even now both eset & avg are active without causing any problem, so i guess even in the first case that shouldn't have been the problem.

^^ yup i thought so...so i kicked avg & i'm sticking to esetthe only problem in eset is that they will delete only some viruses, the rest we have to delete manuallybut i will live with that considering the fact that eset uses so less resources that i can hardly feel its there which is way different from other AV's;)

@above

You have to go through a couple of settings to configure your Eset, it will start deleting the virus automatically.

Extra settings for Nod32 v2.7 - revised 22-12-2006 - Page 2 - Wilders Security Forums

check the above link..it's for configuring nod32 version 2.7, although version 3 looks different but setting should be the same..Many people run Nod32 on it's default settings but if you tweak it a bit then it's a powerful AV.

I had Nod32 version 2.7 for 1 and half years on my PC..never had any problems of virus creeping in..
