Paying double the price for 10 times the speed make much more sense. In India, you'll be paying more and getting less regardless.

Right now the broadband (if 256 K can be called broadband) scene is abnormal here and we all know that. But i was hoping against all odds that it would normalise and we would be somewhat closer to the international levels, but it will continue to stay that way for a long time to come if only a select few get to enjoy the benefits of broadband in this country. i dont think many home users in india can afford Rs. 2000 + a month on internet connections to be honest, unlesss its a 3 in 1 iptv kind of scenario. i am sure the ISP's can make money by giving us 2Mbps unlimited for 1000 rupees a month....has anyone got any info as to how much they are currently milking us ?

Broadband penetration is very low in the country and the only way masses can jump onto the broadband bandwagon you need to make it affordable and ofcourse, unlimited (limited broadband is no broadband)... An avg youngster earning 20,000 a month paying 2000 on broadband is like 10% of his/her salary for internet. and i am guessing most hardcore internet users in india would be below 35 yrs of age..... Therefore broadband needs to be priced accordingly. The companies would have dished out 2 Mbps unlimted plans by now for high prices if they knew people are willing to pay for it.... dont u think?

i guess affordable high speed unlimited internet should be our slogan TRAI should now change the definition of broadband from 256 K...so that the benchmark is raised.

Yeah, that's right. TRAI's got the definition of Broadband wrong. In their eyes, any connection on 256k is Broadband, but they've ignored the fact that by imposing data/time limit, they're defeating the whole reason for Broadband to exist.We just don't have the right people working for the country right now.

THats quite true i have relatives in Hong Kong paying 150 HKD/month for unlimited 6 Mbps connection..thats 900 INR/month

Why dont u use a Dual wan router ?..it would help balance the load on both the lines.

If you have some time to kill you can "upgrade" some Linksys WiFi routers to have this feature (by converting LAN Port to WAN ports)

the max im willing to pay is Rs.1500 /- for 2 mbps atleast for starters thats gud , as for countries like korea , france etc are concerned they are far too developed when compared to india , we still have a long way to go so i think this will be a gud step in this direction but most importantly the government should open out last mile connectivity and reduce bandwidth tariffs , only then the ISP's will bring out fast packages

If nobody from east or west coming ur way u can buy it in india as well. D-Link India have introduced the DRO-210 Model... donno abt price u can call them up and ask.
