As I said ..for 2 Mbps 2000 Bucks r perfect for me .....but only if the down speed is constant
Way BSNL/MTNL is going We may get 2 Mbps Unlimited for less than 2000 ...within next 2 years......but I am pretty sure they can't be constant in supply ....I have worked with BSNL 's 2mbps connection and I m not will to take it even if someone else sponsors me

2 mbps unlimited should be around Rs. 1000/month... all 256 K and 512 K plans should be scrapped. 256 K and 512 K speeds are really not broadband considering the rich content that we have on web nowadayz..There is really no reason why these speeds cannot be provided to us considering that we call ourselves an IT superpower and the fact that between themselves Reliance and VSNL-Tata own 3 Intl Bandwidth providers namely, Tyco Global Networks, Teleglobe (both owned by Tata) and Flag Telecom (reliance)Also the local loop needs immediate unbundling if they (govt) are to increase broadband penetration and reduce prices

Yes, downloading vidoes, music, video conferencing, streaming professional stock data. Even for surfing you need a minimum of 3 Mbps, actually delivered all the time if you don't want to wait for the page to download after you click. Try downloading some pictures or video sent by a friend in the size of say 10 Mb and see !! I would pay upto RS 5000 for 2 Mbps. Obviously, the less the better.
Here in San Francisco, US, I have 100 Mbps for $ 50 ( RS 2300 ) . We have never heard of download limits here !! Unfortunately uploads are only 5 Mbps. People in Hong Kong and Japan routinely have 1 GB connections at HOME. The cheapest connection here in San Francisco is Rs 430 for 3 Mbps, obviously no limits. I hope we can get atleast 3 Mbps in Delhi with atleast 100 GB limit by 2008 as I am planning on living in Delhi. I used MTNL 512 Kb last year. It was really slow during the day and was ok at night for surfing.

For a truly unlimited with 2 mbps constant speed.....Rs.700 is enough...considering all the pains we have been suffering with snail speeds all these years
noobs here who wanna pay 500 for 1 mbps connections, while we're getting 256 kbps for 949? be realistic. If 2 mbps does come out, it'll be for around 2 grands easy & I am willing to pay that much. I used to get 512kbps from Zee, around 6 years ago for 1500/-. The speeds have gone down hill n prices up hill, for no reason at all. But i guess buying power was also greater than time. Anyway 2 mbps, around 2 grands, i play call of duty 2 online, and get okay speeds on it, m on 256kbps ultd connection. My brother lives in Netherlands, he gets 25 mbps at home and 70 mbps in his uni...we here in india don't get 2 mbps even. We have a long long way to go. My speeds of 256 were increased to 2mbps around a 3 months ago (reasons unknown), they lasted for 2 months and man it was amazing...used to download at 250kBps. I've experienced and downloaded at speeds upto 400kBps, with net4india n all. High speed internet connections are still a dream for the average indian.
