watch the documantaries like zietgiest, america freedom to fascism, money masters and google is your friend

Well i watched Zeitgeist and we tore it down here. The other movies you quoted are just that, movies (not documentaries) for entertainment, not to be extrapolated in to the real world and certainly not authoratative sources on the subject.

You can choose whether you want to be educated or entertained.

Conclusion
After some serious reading around, was the Fed is NOT private, its not govt. either. It was setup by act to be independent so it would not be influenced by the party of the day and its job is to keep the country's financial interest over & above that of any party.

It's directors can and often do come from the private sector but the funds it controls are most defnitley tax payers money ie public. Not some shadowy private rich man's hoard.

That is a common trait amongst central banks the world over.

Sorry if this rather dry but those are the facts as best i can ascertain and in addtion to speaking with someone that worked for a reserve bank.

.Those aren't movies but documentaries and btw zietgiest was disinfo esp part 1.watch the other ones and then tell me and also answer me these four points
q1)WHY do govts CHOOSE to borrow money from private banks at interest when govt could create all the interest free money it needs itself
q2)why create money as debt, why not create money that circulates permanently
q3)how can a money system dependent on perpetually accelerating growth be used to build a sustainable economy?.isn't it logical perpetually accelerating growth and sustainability are incompatible

all ques were from the documentary"money as debt"

quotes
Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits.

"The government should create, issue, and circulate all the
currency and credit needed to satisfy the spending power of
the government and the buying power of consumers. The privilege
of creating and issuing money is not only the supreme
prerogative of government, but it is the government’s
greatest creative opportunity. The financing of all
public enterprise, and the conduct of the treasury will
become matters of practical administration. Money will
cease to be master and will then become servant of humanity."

whoever controls the colume of money in our country is absolute master
of all industry and commerce and when you realise that the entire systetm
is very easily controlled, one way or another,by a few poerful men at the top,
you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties
than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks
to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by
deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the
banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children
wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing
power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to
whom it properly belongs.

hmmmm. too much of info does confuse the people sometimes. it shud b just HEAR n FORGETsurely, no one would want civil wars n all the shit going on around will they!?just give it more time, the free markets may get out of this by the first quater of 2009.no such shit thing is going to happen! God save the world!

According to some maya calendar, world is going to end by 2012 ... But I must say tht this civil war story is even funnier than tht :DI really don't know how ppl can trust and create these kind of stories .. Anyways good timepass for us :D ... U just need to know economics or lets say u need to have common sense to understand this slow down ... But one need to have a real wierd brain to create this civil war story

Man, its hard work to debunk all this stuff

First off, these conspiracy theorists that you quote, and sorry that IS the most accurate term to characterise them, take advantage of the secretive ways in which the Fed operates. Whenever there is some secrecy these types come out in droves offering their own interpretations on what is happening, they are nothing better than attention seekers.

Like i said earlier if you like fiction then by all means indulge in it, just don't take it seriously.

Now....there are very good reasons for some secrecy, when a major policy decison is at hand, imagine for example the Fed is considering re-evaluating ie devaluing the dollar at any point in time.

If you were a currency speculator holding a lot of dollars anywhere in the world, what would you do if you were certain that the dollar would either rise or fall ?

Does this not create an inherent danger ?

The danger is that once word leaks out, then whatever action you are trying to take to fix the problem gets pre-empted by the speculator and it compounds the initial problem because others will be watching.

How efffective are you then as a central bank ?

Pretty damn Impotent that's what.

That's a very simple example of why some secrecy is required, the same applies with interest rates as well.

The other pattern i notice is these ppl are against the concept of a Central Reserve Bank in the first place, that's an argument i'd accept more readily than any of the more sinister stuff that gets passed around.

Heh, this one is a joke.

The first thing to understand is that even though the Fed’s name makes it sound like a government organization, it’s not.

Well see what i said above.

Take a peek in your phone book. Instead of being listed in the government pages, the Federal Reserve is listed right next to another private corporation in the business section called Federal Express.

which through some 'amazing' deduction leads us to

That’s right, the Fed is actually a private corporation run in secret by a few high level international bankers.

This is a misstatement of the facts, its run by directors (on a rotating basis)that might be from the private sector, it does NOT imply AUTOMATICALLY as i said earlier that its private.

This is a unique institution, it's neither private nor government for reasons mentioned above.

Here’s a look into who was involved in setting up the Federal Reserve in 1913.
Rothschild Banks of London and Berlin (Rothschild and world economy)
Lazard Brothers Bank of Paris
Israel Moses Sieff Banks of Italy
Warburg Bank of Hamburg, Germany and Amsterdam
Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York
Lehman Brothers Bank of New York
Goldman Sachs Bank of New York
Chase Manhattan Bank of New York

I have no doubt that these emminent ppl were consulted on the setting up of such an institution, after all they are in the business and would have valuable advice to offer.

But how does that show that its their money in it, which is what i understand you want to imply by the fed being Private.

Hmm..this one has a little more informatoin but does not dispute what i said earlier in fact it mostly agrees, thx for making my job easier :D

It does not appear that the New York Federal Reserve Bank is owned, either directly or indirectly, by foreigners. Neither Mullins nor Kah provided verifiable sources for their allegations, nor did their mysterious sources agree on exactly who owns the New York Federal Reserve Bank. Moreover, their central assumption that control of the New York Federal Reserve is the same as control of the whole System is wrong and demonstrates a lack of understanding of the System's basic organizational structure. The profits of the Federal Reserve System, again contrary to the assertion of Kah and Schauf, are funneled back to the federal government, not to an \"international banking elite.\"

If the U.S. central bank is in the grip of a banking conspiracy, then Mullins and Kah have certainly not uncovered it.

q1)WHY do govts CHOOSE to borrow money from private banks at interest when govt could create all the interest free money it needs itself

Well, if you make money out of thin air, it has a side effect called INFLATION.

That's not to say the Fed or any central reserve bank does not create money, they do but indirectly. Look up Fractional reserve banking. Where say $100 loaned out with 10% kept as reserve can end up being much more if succesively loaned out.

You have created much more money but its all accounted for. Persoanlly i think this is a brilliant invention.

Dunno, maybe some one more knowledgeable can reply here.

Bankers do OWN your ass if you default on your payments, if you think you cannot repay your loan, it would be wise not to take out any!

This bit of litreature conveniently comes out after the subprime mortgage crisis, where surprise, suprise many ppl lost thier homes cos THEY COULD NOT AFFORD THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

That is not an indicitment on banks now is it.

It's just bad blood, so let's go after the biggest bank of them all, the FED.

That power rests with the govt. yes its very powerful and needs to be if it is to steer the country in troubled times.

The only reason the current situatoin won't be a repeat of 1929, is that the Fed this time is doing the right things at the right time instead of the opposite.

This argument pertains to the issue of private currency by an individual bank. Well that idea was tried out in the 19th century and turned out not to be very good, which is why we have a central issuing authority for all money in the country. That way we only deal with A currency and not a whole basket of them.

oh jeez, you dont want to believe then fine, even us prez candidate ron paul says that fed is private and illegal. It urge you to watch money masters. It tells you everything about money.and money is fiat money, they print it out of thin air.it isn't backed by anything period. btw we are talking about financial armageedon,by feb 2009 the world wont be the same place.

ron paul is no longer the US presidential candidate.

i know but many people in Us are going to write in him.my thread went offtopic.I urge you all to be prepared for total chaos.I was reading that fortis bank would soon fail.
It is a controlled demolition of the financial markets, wither there will be a cashless one world currency or total chaos, either way total chaos would erupt.

the KEYword is derivatives.atmost 500$ trillion and it is bursting and the fed is trying to save it by printing money out of thin air
