Use VoIP without a computer

please suggest any alternatives (now i will specify my requirements clearly)
1. can be used without PC (no USB adaptors) --Linksys PAP2 uses SIP protocol cost abt Rs.2500 /- U connect ur normal corded/less phone to it (No skype connectivity..as mentioned before skype is proprietary..rest of the world operates mostly on SIP)
2. need a US no. so my family & friends in US can call on that no. for cheap/free -- Many SIP Providers to choose from that offer this service for free.
3. cheap cost (< $ 5/month) -- many Betamax co's offering free unltd calls to US and to abt 20-25 other countries for 10 euros for 4 months effective cost 2.5 Euro/month (based on unique IP)
4. lower initial installation costs (only disadvantage in skype currently, standalone skype phones cost starts around rs. 3500-4000)

SIP and SIP adapter config having a bit a of a learning curve..hence ppl who want out of box solutions use skype.
 
@ cyberwiz....i was researching all that u have written above & i agree completely with what u have suggested :thumb: just help me out with the following1. there are so many betamax companies like voipcheap, voipdiscount, voipwise, lowratevoip, voipbuster, etc.i'm unable to judge which provider gives reliable service & comparatively better quality. even online search doesnt yield decisive results. any personal experience?2. these betamax companies usually offer european nos. for DID but not US no. i have found a provider IPKall which gives free US no (Washington state only). do u know any other provider which gives free US no. in other states too (i am specifically looking for atlanta, georgia. if unavailable, then i dont mind going for a no. in washington state)thanks for the help again...

I need some help in resolving below issue.

I am using a Linksys "Voice Gateway with Router" (Model number SPA3102) which is attached to Asianet cable modem. The Linksys gateway sits between Asianet modem and my PC. For my gateway to make calls, I have to turn on my PC and authenticate with AsiaNet. I want to bypass this process.

Is there a way around this? My modem can support PoEEE authentication. Does any one know what authenticatation method asianet uses?
