I just want root access to my S2, I dont want to use other ROM right now. Is it possible? If yes then how? I just want to disable some boot apps, enable avast firewall and install good backup software(which as I know require root access)

Some other queries are:

[*]
[*]Where can I download pure ICS ROM which I can load in?
[*]where can I download stock ICS ROM for S2(India)(in case I want to rollback(unroot) I may require this ROM)?
[*]
[/list]
@Jaymin: As you own S2 and I guess its rooted, so I need your kind advise specially about the pros/cons of rooting.

More queries will come... :)

Isn't there any toolkit or something of that sort for S2? I'm sure that there should be one as S2 is a pretty famous model.
I rooted my GNex with a toolkit and it was very easy. For me, unlocking the bootloader, install CWM recovery and rooting the phone didn't even take 10 minutes.

I just Googled for a S2 toolkit and got this. Pretty sure something like this exists non AT&T models too. The one in the link is for AT&T models so please don't use that. [APP] Samsung Galaxy S II Toolkit Beta V2.4 *CMW, Root, and Roms all in one place* - xda-developers

If u guys can wait till weekend......i can share my own experiences too! It wud be more relevant i guess, since like u guys (who r trying to root now) appear to be noobs, like how i was! :p It is better to share noob experiences amongst each other! :)

Btw, this is my thread: https://broadband.forum/my-phone/82458-samsung-galaxy-s2-16-gb.html

The name looks same as iCon's!

Why do u want toolkits & all? C'mon, theres a site, it lists down all the steps, gives u all the files/data that is needed......all u have to do is follow it like a robot! :D

unlock root failed for me twice.....................googled for root but cant understand what is for me............anybody can help??

Hmm. I guess you need to flash CF-ROOT kernel for this. Here's a guide for this. This would be a bit tricker as you need to flash a tar using ODIN, so read very carefully before doing this.

How to Root XWJVB and Install Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery

EDIT:

Before doing above, try Doomlord's rooting toolkit.

XW is for a different region. A thread on XDA-Developers report that it works on DDJVB.
