Using 2G sim in a 3G data card.. pls reply..

Hey guys.. i purchased a 3g datacard ( Huwaei dongle) last week.. I am using a 2g sim in it.. d connection type varies from GPRS to edge to HSDPA.. the maximum download speed on Internet Download Manager when d network is @ its peak is 40kbps.. However when my friend uses his dongle with a 2g sim, we get around 100kbps all the time..:ishock: Even when we use a 2g sim in one of my friend's nokia5800 , we got upto 200kbps speed.. Dis is not only d case with me..its happening with a lot of people in jharkhand.. some are getting gud speeds in 2g n some are not..Do u thing makin any change with the settings or getting a 3G sim and converting it to @G will do any gud? :wall::impissed:Need help friends..

as of getting speed in mobile with 2g sim is possible as u need to change setting in mobile to umts from dual.

What model of Huawei dongle did u buy and at what price.I too am looking for an USB 3G dongle without carrier contract

Assuming that MTNL/BSNL wud provide similar SIM cards, I suppose BSNL 2G SIM cards are already 3G capable. Because MTNL here does not ask to replace old SIM card to avail 3G services.

Yes, U can use 2G BSNL sim in the datacard. There is an unlimited-data plan for Rs 273 and 2GB plan for Rs 98 in BSNL-2G..Use whichever fits your requirement(I understand U wld need an unliited plan..)

actually here they are saying that unlimited pan is for 1499 only which plan are u saying for rs 273
