Using broadband on 2 PC's individually / simultaneously

I have 2 computers (1 with ethernet card and other has ethernet port built-in, so 1 port for each comp) around 30ft apart. and I have 2 routers, D-Link GLB502T and UTR300R2U (both have 1 USB and 1 Ethernet port)I have BSNL-500 NU connection.Now, I want to use net on both comp such that,1. I should be able to use net on either comp individually (with other comp switched-off)or2. Use it on both comps simultaneously.so, is it possible with the hardware I have at the moment? (including a cable of 30ft) or do I have to buy the ethernet-switch?

Configure you modem in PPPoE mode, assign static IP to each computer.

Option 1>

2. Use it on both comps simultaneously.

1. You can use either Ut300r2U
or glb502 T
to connect both computers.
2. Use the USB port with shortest connection.
( length of cable less than 3 feet )
3. Rj45 ( upto 100 meters ) connect to system 30 feet away.

4. Enable DHCP in either modem. 192.168.1.2 to 192.168 1.10 ( say)
5. Ip address modem for LAN port 192.168.1.1
6. Ip address modem for USB Port 192.168.1.2 ( usb drivers needed )
{Note : I did this two years back. will update if any error }

7. Both computers will work at same time.
8. For GLB502T connect RJ11 from Phone junction direct to Unit

Option 2 :

1. I should be able to use net on either comp individually (with other comp switched-off)

9. if difficulty in configuration )
use another good quality rj11 cable to extend the phone line.
to the other room.
use system 2= modem 2 + adsl splitter
as usual on LAN port ( preferred to USB)

Disadvantage. : only one system can work at a time.

do I have to buy the ethernet-switch?

Not needed now for two computers.
In case you get a laptop or use both computers
to work on wifi at the same time.
a wifi router will be more useful. at a slightly higher cost
( say Netgear WGR614 v6 etc about Rs 1500 to Rs 2000/=)

I am sorry, if I did not put it correctly, but I need it to work in both ways, I mean if I want only one PC to have net in the morning, or use both in the afternoon, both combination should be possible.

Is it possible with the current solution that you are stating?

Right now, I have connected the D-Link to nearrest PC by USB, and both PC's by LAN and using Bridge mode, shared connection, I am able to use net on both PCs simultaneously. But for that the 1st PC has to be ON.

But what I want is, that I should be able to use the 2nd PC individually also

Sorry, if your solution already takes care of that...I just wanted to confirm it.

Create a Dialer in Second computer and try.===Phone Jn==>>adsl splitter = D-Link usb computer 1 ( dialer 1 )======================= dlink Lan port computer 2. ( dialer 2 )

I did it as meetdilip suggested. now its working in both combination. (PPPoE mode and USB to one PC and LAN to other)

But I want it to work the same way in Bridge mode. So, I guess I will buy the switch.
And, it does not work in Bridge mode (the way I have connected it right now)

If you can configure it for pppoe (always on) connect it as:modem-switch-and from switch to both the pc's.or you have to buy an access point with dialer option like Linksys wifi (arround 3000 Rs.) wifi and 4 ethernet port and connect it as:modem( configured for bridge mode) -access point (will act as dialer) -pc's.

This is for the second option (modem configured for bridge mode)
no you dont have to dial the connection from any one pc.your access point will dial the connection and because it will act as dhcp server so all the connected sys will get the ip's from the access point.
by this you dont have to use the modem's usb port (not recommended because connection will not be stable) and you will have the wifi access too.

but i will suggest you to go for first option (always on).
in this case your modem will dial a connection and will act as dhcp server,connect your all the system to switch wich is connected to modem.
dont forget to change your modem default password and disable remote access.

ok. thanks for the info.
I will buy the switch. and abt disabling remote access..where is that option?
In my D-Link, there is Advanced > Web Access Control and then there is one check box for "Enable" (which is unchecked)
and I have changed the default password (admin) already
