Mine is a self assembled one ...it is has given me great results and as it is self assembled, i have never faced any problem.

Few years back (around 15-17years) my parents picked up one eureka forbes filter and luckly it kept working till late 2009 and that is when the eureka forbes guy gave up and told ...amc no more possible, parts are not avilable. So it was evident, we have to buy a new one. I did an extensive research, actually went to assembly plants of most of the branded and unbranded ro system guys and found most of them are just doing eye wash in name of water filter/RO. So decided to build one for my family. Got all the required items from open market and build it. Oh and btw, I filed a patent (3 years back) for functioning, work flow and design, currently waiting to be published.

I also have a raspberry pi connected with various sensors to monitor output and input water quality and i get daily reports from the filter itself. So need not to worry about water quality due to any filter not perfming bcoz of clogging or infected etc.

The system has a storage capacity of 32 ltrs and can filter/pureify 17ltrs of water per hour. Average wastage in purification is 0.35ltrs per 3.78ltrs of intake. I am working on ways to refilter this wastage water but till now have not succeeded satisfactorily.

Different stages of filtrations are:-

Pre-Filter: for dust and other visible particle from water.
Anti Scalant balls: for hardwater to softwatre using chemical balls.
Magmatic Softner : for countering if any hardness of water not treatable using chemical balls.the water is passed thru tube contating rare earth magnates.
Sediment Filtration: to remove suspended particles, small dust and other visible small particle from water.
Activated Carbon: to removes chlorine, chlorine smell and restore the natural color of the water.
RO Membrane: to remove hardness (if any) water, filter out other known impurities of the water. As the water passes thru 7 layers, even nano and pico particles gets filtered.
Mineral Ceramic Ball :- Ceramics are known to generate passively Far Infrared Rays. This gives antibacterial treatment and also activates the minerals using FIR. I use both BA and SE version of ceramic here.
Alkaline Calcium Ball: to settle the PH level of water.
Antibacterial Balls: specifically used to react and destroy any bacteria in water.
Tourmaline balls: these are bio chemical balls have 4 purposes, negative ion generation so that human body gets better oxidation. Secondly lowering beam of water molecules, this helps water to penetrate human body easily. Thirdly its natural capability of FIR. And forth one is minerals enhancements.
Taste enhancer balls : these are also bio chem balls specifically to enhance taste or water and would make it near sparkling water.
Oxygen Reduction Potential balls: for sanitation and oxidation of water and would stop any future possibility of self contamination.
Silver Impregnated activated carbon: silver has antibacterial properties and can stop regrowth capabilities of bacterial. So along with pores material like carbon balls it acts as a last line of filter.
Post silver carbon filter: it contains coconut shell based activated carbon for natural purification as last step.

To be very frank, i got water samples of my home tested in state govt labs and they have certified the levels of input contamination is reduced upto 99.996% at various input levels.

The idea of writing this post is to make you guys aware about what is basically needed in water filters today, as the level and type of contamination has increased many folds.

Oh and this whole filter setup costed me 6k (excluding raspberry and sensors).

installation done...water coming out drop by drop even though water pressure in tap is strong. Kent has really tiny pipes.

However the biggest problem is i took TDS reading, normal water reading is around 95 to 100 and Kent came to 101 after filtration o-0,

our home filter unit by Philips gives around 85.... going with my snapdeal link of eureka forbes i posted then i guess ? or anyone has any other suggestion for under 8k UV one, no need for RO.
