very slow mobile internet with vodafone recently

hello i m facing since a couple of weeks big problems with the mobile internet on my mobile phone. it had been quite ok until one month ago, but then it became very slow, and this all over the city independently from where i am. i checked the connection speed and the download rate is just around 0,03 Mbps, which is really ridiculous. and far below what they promise. so i m paying for a serve which i can not use. wifi is at least 20 times faster. with such an internet connection maybe i can read a mail, but forget about opening media archives, streams videos or just life radio. such files open only after a long time, and even then get disrupted all the time.. i called a couple of times their consumer service and sent mails, but no helpful reaction. they it seems don't care..... does anyone have the same problem, what could be done about, what ther steps taken? i have samsung 4. any advice is realiy welcome...thank you very much

is it 2G or a 3G plan ?
pre-paid or a Postpaid Plan ?
Change to Google or OPENDNS to get little extra speed.
Check APN setting, if possible, use the same SIM on another device and compare the results.
Is it Samsung S4 or any other 4 you have mentioned ?

hi ghps, thanks for your post.
i have samsung Galaxy 4 and 3g.
i checked already the apn settings, they are ok and in line with what vodaphone informed me.
could you tell me how to proceed to change to google or opendns. do i find it in the settings of my cellphone?
do you have some idea of some other cause or solution for the slow connection ( as 0,03 mbps download is very slow) ?

Are you sure you have "www" as APN and username/password as blank ?Make sure you have selected network mode as AUTO or WCDMA/GSM Auto mode. APN settings would look like
APN wwwProxy : Left BlankPort : Left BlankUser name : Left BlankPassword : Left BlankServer : Left BlankMMSC : MMS proxy : MMS port :MCC : MNC : Authentication type : Left BlankAPN type : default,supl,mmsAPN protocol : IPv4I think you would be able to change DNS on a WI-FI only for a unrooted phone, however a few apps are available on playstore for DNS help,but I am sure its something wrong in settings up of the connection as my friends using Galaxy Grand get 2 to 3mbps in delhi on vodafone easily.
