Average speed is ok. Coverage needs to improve alot still. Most popular places are covered but indoor coverage is weak comparatively. Airtel and Jio are far ahead overall. If you get good VI 5G then average speeds are good and comparable.

Kolkata Airport i was getting 20-30mbps on Vi 5G (around 11am on a weekday)

That's just 4G or 5G ULI.

I got 400-500Mbps max on VI but local servers are capped mostly. It's tough to reach such speeds. Average speed was still quite usable. I like their 4G more with 3CA/4CA than their 5G tbh.

Experience was pretty avg i ended up switching to Jio sim and quickly downloaded stuff before boarding my flight

Yeah. I prefer Airtel for the most part in Kolkata and WB. Backup Jio sim if you are traveling too offbeat although the way Airtel is expanding I might not need that in the future. Within the city even VI works great.

My friend from kolkata had Airtel 5G as well

And another friend used Jio there

None seemed to like Vodafone’s service

Yeah. Vodafone has lost it's legacy in Kol and WB. It still holds up in Mumbai because they invested heavily in Mumbai otherwise would have lost that as well. Slowly slowly VFs base has moved to Airtel and mostly Jio. Even Airtel also focused quite late in Kolkata and WB and that shows in their customer gains and impact. Vodafone market has completely moved to Jio now with Airtel playing catchup.

Kolkata is the reason i got Airtel sim as i had planned to visit kolkata for personal reasons

But well that was a dumb move by me
