so anyone here using onboard gpu on a i5 12th gen processor? windows update delivered a driver update 3 days ago and since then it has been a mess. something is crashing chrome if you try to watch video in it with hardware acceleration enabled.

You mean "Use graphics acceleration when available" under system settings in chrome? Check if "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" is ON in System->Display->Graphics under advanced graphics settings in OS settings.

Not sure. Mine is hybrid. lol. Should be an option in Win11 but might have been hidden due to onboard graphics. Best you can do is reinstall graphics driver.

i updated to an even newer version manually using intel utility and that did not resolve the problem. monitor randomly flickers and any video playing in chrome go crazy. i googled around to see if other users on intel 730 are facing this problem. haven't seen any complaint so far. it should be affecting a lot more users considering it is all on the processor and no other component should be involved.

i did see some old reports for another issues and there was a suggestion to switch this flag Choose ANGLE graphics backend to d3d9. i did that yesterday and haven't had a crash so far. but that could be because i am avoiding playing videos in chrome lol.

firefox appears to have no issues so maybe it's time to jump ship. i really do not want to do that tbh.

Yeah in my case it appears to be clashing with chrome.

There are tons of reports online from past that suggests that this happens regularly with intel onboard gpu.

heh. the driver thing truly messed things up for me. i managed to find the chrome fix. but now another issue is driving me nuts. when monitor wakes up, all apps rearrange themselves. this seems to be related to how windows assume there is another monitor with different resolution when actual monitor is not available. most online issues about this are related to multi-monitor setup. i have a basic 24 inch monitor lol. now i am playing with registry settings like primsurfsize and others. i guess it is really time to just move on from windows. shitz crazy.

You can disable auto-arrange of icons. I have a monitor connected too which is an ultrawide fhd monitor and set as primary display but I don't get any issue when I turn on laptop without external display occasionally. Maybe a system reset will fix things.
