Vodafone launched a new Post-paid Plan for 999 (one time charges) for Life-time connection where in CLIP will be charged per month @ 49/- and Local Call @ 80p and STD @ Rs. 1.30.This plan is totally out of proportion with the life-time plan available on other service provider and also with Vodafone Pre-paid customers. In prepaid, customer have to pay only Rs. 299/- to get a lifetime connection and have to recharge with Rs. 200/- every six months to keep the connection alive wherein post-paid Customer Have to shell OUT Rs. 999/- one-time and the on top of that Rs. 49/- (plus tax) as CLIP charges every month. That means, for six month, a postpaid customer have to pay Rs. 330.34 (CLIP charges+ tax) with no talk value where as a pre-paid customer gets 170+ talk value on recharge of Rs. 200/- (nearly full talk-time minus the Service tax) and even this calculation doesn't justify lower local call tariffs i.e. 80p on post-paid, while its Rs. 1 /- on pre-paid lifetime. So, when we equate the gain of 20p in post-paid per call, with loss(minus) CLIP charges for 6 months, A customer need to call atleast N no. of times( at least more than 1600 calls - excluding 12.36% tax) to be equal to pre-paid counterpart. By this, he'll be better off with 333 or 444 plans. So, as per the calculation above (considering the fact that customer have opted for Life-time plan to mostly receive calls) the latest plan 999-lifetime is totally illogical, underplanned plan and needs fine tuning to a greater extent by the planning team and I believe that as both pre-paid and post-paid are your Valuable Customers, there shouldn't be any DISCRIMINATION in offers/plans that are being offered to both.
