I am sure anyone going for a 8 lakh rupee hatchback would go for the extended warranty as well :P

After reading dozens of horror stories at various automotive forums, I would not suggest getting DSG transmission equipped car even to my worst enemy.

yes there arent enough skilled mechanics who are experts in AT.My friend was one of the first one to buy i10 AT and within six months there was a jam, getting stuck at neutral. He has to tow the car to the Hyundai workshop.they kept it for around 20 days and then informed him to pay 52k to replace the entire gearbox even though within warranty. He had a huge fight and he dragged them to consumer court to get a new gearbox ,which he won but after that he sold the car and swore on not buying hyundai again.

I am sure there are hundreds of horror stories related to every single model out there.

yes but AT seems a problem. My garage guy has worked with bmw and he told me that the training program cost 4-6 lacs per person.the programs are supposed to be attained every year where they update on latest technology and troubleshooting. Most of the premium car dealers do not spend any money to train their mechanics. The dealer who makes maximum sales and is spread across the country has his mechanic sponsored by BMW.One dealer will never entertain other dealers car in premium sector if it is under dealers warranty. My point is lack of knowledge of latest technologies in transmission and other electronic works is a concern.Problems with Electronic stability and independent suspension are also not attended properly.

I own a Fiat and I am scared everything there is a technical problem with the car. Tata service centers usually have just one guy who is trained (somewhat) by Fiat. Thankfully, the car has been trouble free for the last 2-3 years. The first year of ownership was a hell.

yes now fiat has parted ways from TATA.I think they are setting up their own infra now.I have a tata so i know the atmosphere at tata service centers. They used to be flooded with taxi indicas and indigos..along with nanos, safaris and other tata models..to top that there were lineas and puntos and 500s in the mix.it used to be a mess. After warranty period died i go to my local garage who actually repairs only premium cars.My tata vista lies in the company of RR evoques and bmw 3 series and 7 series lol.
