my info was updated many years ago i would hate to take the route of filing an fir reporting my id card as lost to apply for a new one.

There is no clear benefit to me for getting it.

well I will suggest you to apply for it, since govt. is making it mandatory for many services such as Ration Cards,Land-registry etc etc

Not interested till the Supreme Court keeps it optional for everything.

UP govt made it mandatory for Ration Cards.So I wont be surprised if other state govt do the same.

I am not sure if that goes against the Supreme Court ruling. Personally I am not bothered till it directly affects me. I do not see it affecting me for a while.
