Hello Friends,

As All of us already paying for TV CHANNELS, either to CABLE Operator or to the DTH Operator.

Did you ever thought about "WHY WE ARE PAYING MONEY TO THEM"?
Since Broadcasters are already minting the money from ADVERTISERS & SPONSORS.
Actually Channel Broadcaster should give us the money to watch their CHANNELS!!:P So that he can earn the money from Advt Commercials.

I think its foolishness to PAY the money to the Channel which is already SPONSORED by Commercial Companies.:wall:

Presently Broadcasters are making the MONEY from both the sides & ******* us from both the sides!!! :madness:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

DID you ever counted how many minutes you have wasted in ONE HOUR by watching Advertisements?
I recently watched ZEE CINEMA for ONE HOUR & counted the Advertisement/Commercials minutes & actual CINEMA minutes, RESULT WAS SHOCKING ONE:
In 60 minutes 31:53 minutes consumed by Advertisements & only 28:03 minutes consumed by CINEMA!!! :O:huh::@

What you SAY on this?

Want to EARN MONEY by watching Channels? :yahoo:
OR
Want to PAY and watch ADVERTISEMENT FREE Channels?
OR
Want to LOOSE THE MONEY & WATCH ADVERTISEMENTS? :hysterical:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't mind to Pay for ADVERTISEMENT FREE Channels..:)

Cheers...

^ Apart from that post , this has been discussed many times but the problem is the whole system is working this way from long time . If you take in account the profit they make through advertisements only , they dont need every customer to pay 10-15 bucks every channel per month but they are so used to hogging money from both pools ( customers and advertisers ) thats its impossible for whole system to change quickly . Unless some reliance like company start some channel with high quality programs and sports events and that too for free ( we expect too much :P )

I guess this is true with magazines too. Since we are paying for the magazine can we claim that there can not be any advt in it? Ofcourse, the only exception is that we can skip the ad pages which is not the case with TV ads.

i Accept your point.Since huge income they are getting in adv there is no need to collect from viewers .ras

Dear @HellCrusher, its a fact which you may have to live with. I assume that its the same across the world, maybe except some premium pay channels not showing any advertisements in UK and US. If you are looking for movies, you will get ad-free movies from MOD channels by paying a premium. In my personal opinion, its better to see some ads during the over breaks in cricket instead of watching the field settings. Ads, are not always a bad thing, sometimes will give you updates on new products and offers, but often become a pain in the ass. I am not sure about the economics, but a channel like HBO has to pay hefty royalties for the movies. Im doubtful whether they will be able to generate that much revenue from advertisements. They need the subscription fee as well.

In UK, the regulatory body has instructed some specific amount of time (12 min in 1 hour, not sure) for which adv can be displayed on channel, if any channels exceeds that, they are penalised. Also no product adv should be displayed while programming (like displayed in Cricket telecast, News Scrollers, Reality shows), due to this our channels have different feeds in UK & shows like TGILC & Indian Idol were telecasted after removing/masking product logos

Hello ItsMe,

I think we are paying for to see advertisements & as a break, we are getting programs/movies...:hysterical:

There will be a LIMIT for everything, But channels are minting money in advt sector.

To find out the same, Just consult a local ADVT MEDIA Company & ask them to quote the airtime for 30Seconds in regional channels & Nationwide Premium Channels.
After getting their quote, You will be shocked.

Did you heard of KurKure, Recently they sponsored a Train(Railway) itself & named it as "KurKure Express".

As an example, if you consider above product KURKURE, its MRP is Rs.10/- but that's production cost is lesser than 1 Rupee.
They are spending nearly 6-8 times(600%-800%) of production cost on Advertisements/sponsorships.

Actually Products price will goes up due to advertisements, we will be the loser from all the ways:

1) We pay for Set Top Box (but STB still belongs to operator...)
2) We pay to see advertisements
3) We Pay 6-8 times more money to buy those products seen in advts
4) New n tricky advts will attract Kids & results in a HOLE to our pocket

There are so many ways we are loosing our money on silly & cheap items by paying heavily.

ACTUALLY THIS DEBUT WILL NEVER ENDS ON THIS TOPIC, SINCE EVERY PERSONS LOOKING/THINKING ANGLE WILL BE DIFFERENT. BUT STILL WE CANNOT HIDE THE HARD FACT THAT WE INDIRECTLY PAYING MONEY TO ADVERTISEMENTS ITSELF & NOT FOR PROGRAMS/MOVIES...:)

Cheers...

@HellCrusher, I agree with you 100%, but isnt that the way business runs everywhere. Can you spot a single business who is not looking to increase its profit? (Unless its govt. undertaking). Its the same across the globe and across products.
If you want to revolt against products, just because they charge many times its production cost, then the only option is not to buy the same. But in that case, you will not be able to buy anything from the market :hysterical:
The advertisements, pay channels, payment for STB etc etc are all across the world. They are all adjusting to it. Its not just Indians who are paying for the channels which show ads, or products which charge you 10 times
the production cost. So lets understand the truth, coz we always have the option to say good bye to DTH/Channels and switch to the free DD terrestrial service.
Remember the basic rule - nothing comes for free, no one is doing business for charity - you need to pay for the best (if not best, atleast even better :) ).
