But Ronel, 34, said he did not recall the train bombings eliciting the kind of street protests, political resignations, candlelight vigils and procession of talk show personalities expressing fury and analysis that followed last month's attacks.
For the train bombings, the outrage was there, but it was never really heard," Ronel said, his hands black from shoe polish. "More people died in the train bombings, but they were ordinary Indians, not high-society industrialists or foreigners or film industry people. Where were the protest marches after the train attacks?"

"They are all lighting candles in front of these temples of affluence, the five-stars, for the people who were engaged in an aggressive pursuit of pleasure. It is not the first time terror has hit Mumbai. When the trains blew up in 2006, there was unimaginable anguish," said Mahesh Bhatt, a well-known filmmaker. "Why did we not see this hysteric candle-lighting then? At that time, I did not witness this great sense of gloom and doom in the city. Because the local Mumbai trains are not a pretty wallpaper against which you can perform your scenes of urban middle-class activism. These are the kind of people who don't even look at the working class. The train bombing was not part of their tragedy; the Taj siege is."

thats what the media wont cover.I read and listen everyday more draconian suggestion by the middle and upper class people.

well as they say KARMA IS BITCH

You are right. So many have died over the years, in the bombings across various cities. This time some rich kids get hurt and suddenly terrorism is a serious issue. The terror originators are learning. They will not target the rich and mighty again. Ordinary Indian are good targets.

Blasts in Assam and I see just half page news, thats all, as if its usual and nothing new.

The same paper will write pages and pages if it had happend in USA or in Europe. Our TV channels will be talking about it all the time.

Its the same all time in the media. If you see the television, majority (I will say all of them) of the serials are telling the story of the rich and celebs. The movies depict stories of rich. News will flash when there is any issue in the Metros. Channels proclaiming themselves as entertainment or Lifestyle have not even heard about the majority of people in India who lives below the poverty line.
The reason - very simple - there is no audience for the poor, all are fascinated about the news and gossips about the rich. Its not just with India, but the same story across the world.

It is not just media. Our politicians are more interested to stop Isrel war. They are not talking about yesterday's bomb blast. Media spends time in Cricket and about whether Indian team is no.1 or not :wall: Then goes to films :(
