What would it take ISPs to migrate to 500mbps to 1gbps plans? Like BSNL whose max speed is 300mbps

If you're asking about BSNL their current equipment will fry 😂
Just kidding but their systems can't handle this much traffic and will be clogged in seconds if a user suddenly starts utilising 1 Gig.
There are many other variables but first and foremost is they can't because their uplink capacity is very low + OLT's and the behaviour of their employees is poor.
 
There are many types of OLT's that Syrotech makes & I can confidently say excited uses more future friendly OLT's with 40 Gig uplink and 16 GPON ports. Unlike BSNL's employees attitude of "Sarkaari Maal".

Also they won't do much if there's a problem because they say "Itna Mil Raha Hai Khush Raho". Whereas on excitel if there's a problem you can simply complain about it and they'll increase the validity of your plan for the days you faced the issue in this case not getting proper 1 Gig speeds.

I know many have spoiled excitel here but guys really there's a positive side too of the company which I experienced with their higher level people. The warmth in the way they talk and the passion they have to take the company further. It's just Limited by some jerks at the low level. Anyways back to the point...

BSNL won't buy OLT's thinking about 1Gig. They work on the current budget they have and for the current requirements & tech. Also if they need to change something they have to go through a looooooonnnnnggggg paperwork which we all know....

So yeah there's no comparison between both...
 
TBH hoping BSNL offers 1 gig is asking for or expecting too much. Even 300 Mbps is a stretch maybe. I use their bare basic 30 Meg line but I am sceptical on several counts.

Their bread and butter is probably shifting from retail customers i.e. poor sods like us, to trunk traffic via Corporates (mainly State and Central Govt) and sundry Govt. Departments including defense, law enforcement etc. I can't comprehend pvt. businesses putting up with shoddy service quality and SLAs offered by this dying dinosaur unless of course there's no other choice at hand.

No matter how much we have hate excitel but its true that excitel definitely shaped broadband market in India.
Atleast they are not charging exorbitant prices like airtel/jio fiber ( which were 2x-3x than current prices before 3 years).
Competition is good whether its provided by excitel or any other isp.
