Tata Play 1 gbps, Jio AirFiber 100 mbps. Prior Microscan 500 mbps, PDPL 300 mbps and BSNL 300 mbps.
I have been trying to tweet BSNL asking what are their plans to start offering more than 100 mbps speeds but they seem to be ignoring me :D

MTNL has recently started offering 1 gbps, at least on paper, see: MTNL Broadband FTTH Gigabit Plans (3TB for 2990+tax, 6TB for 4990+tax) | MTNL FTTH Fibre Network

I googled a bit and found some encouraging articles but not sure how true they are:

One is from over two years ago and the other is more recently posted.

I really hope it's true that they are upgrading their NG-OTN (next generation optical transport network) from 10G to 100G, but again, not sure after all this BSNL cash crunch and VRS scheme for cost cutting will affect these plans.

So folks, when will BSNL start offering 1 Gbps speeds? Anyone has any inside information? :D

BSNL Northeast circle as per NIB guy, only has 28 Gbps total throughput which means 100 Mbp for only 286.72 customers.

Dark Fibre is around 48 Gbps, but that's dark fibre.

Don't expect 1 Gbps plan from BSNL when they can't even give 1 Gbps for their own local offices.

2017 news. Still no real results. I think we both know BSNL will always remain behind.

Some good usage of 1 gbps examples... downloading game contents (50 GB, 100 GB etc) in minutes instead of hours.

For someone like me, downloading software (linux ISOs) which are around 2 GB will take seconds instead of minutes.

Basically, there was a huge leap for me going from 4-8 mbps ADSL to 100 mbps FTTH :D now similar another huge leap if I get 1 gbps speed.

Nice youtube channel here, about latest BSNL FibroNet Triple Play services coming soon. Hopefully this is a good sign that 1 gbps also may come "soon" :D

@vishalrao Just check if any of the article/info is dated pre 31 Jan 2020. The reason is after the VRS loads of ppl have gone so they could have a temporary (hopefully) bottleneck. It's the same with MTNL in Mumbai (except Prabhadevi exchange which is a little better placed in manpower but still ignoring complaints). In fact Bank of India toll free numbers are dead for atleast a week & they have provided other numbers (non MTNL) for use.

Yes, the VRS effect for cash crunch cost saving might affect the rollout of upgraded network, but it seems this new branding "FibroNet" (triple play) is real and will eventually reach nationwide even if it takes more time.

My main worry is that for 1 gbps plans, LCOs will have to use higher cost equipment which they might be hesitant to do since very bare minimum customers will opt for such high speed plans.
