The very first facility that we need is - Pay all bills for say 6 months or a yearly period, at once. I dont like the hagging of making monthly payments, and keeping in touch with the duedates to avoid penalties.

^^ You can always setup automatic payments from your credit card or bank account.

C'mon that still has to be checked, that they only the bill amount is charged & no excess!!But in prepaid - all u need to do is do online recharge of huge amount, and use it year long!!

Mobile Operators have more incentive to keep prepaid customers as their subscribers than postpaid.Reason : We can easily stop using their service in Prepaid on one fine day, but not in Postpaid. That is the reason we are getting lot of benefits only in Pre-Paid.Tata Docomo offered 1p per 10 seconds for on-net calls only in Prepaid.Same kind of additional benefits would be offered by other operators to only in Prepaid.Mobile Operators has not implemented any changes in presenting their Postpaid plans. So, IMHO, the discussion is useless for the time being.

Prepaid sucks....
we all know that going to Retailer to recharge every now and then is a problem
.. and we don't even want to think about running out of balance in times of dire need.

But India hates Postpaid even more..why?
a common notion that Postpaid bills are inflated by company's(though that's true).
The problem of payment, online payment is still not into the masses.
and last but most importantly, the notion that it is more costly(well quite true fr now).

So when will telcos start bringing decent and viable PPaid plans for the masses.
And when will India adopt PPaid...........like USA, Europe??:solid:

plz share whether ur views abt postpaid.

There will be 90-99% adoption of post paid when telecom companies will become loyal to customers as per their usage. (I am talking about reliance billing problems) and customers will have intention to pay the bills.

But the opposite applies when u go to their outlets. They are always after u to sell Postpaid connections!

Is that site safe & trustable ?

Wow so u want ppaid plans like us & europe??? Seriously??? Have u been there or do u no anyone from there praising their mobile plans??? My brother came back from Canada last July & he is still paying the mobile company $32/month coz he had to sign a 3yr contract to get a decent postpaid plan ... His contract ends in sept so he is gonna keep on paying till then... No I am not complaining coz he should honor the contract he signed but it feel sad that someone would think US/Europe have anywhere close to the decent plans we have here in india... Over there ur min mobile bill is at least $50-60 (Rs2.3-2.7k)... My brother in law came to india & was shocked my the mobile rates we pay here & the convenience with which he was able
to get a prepaid connection at such affordable rates...So I pray to god that we don't get the US/Europe kind of postpaid plans here...

Also as far as I know they do have roaming charges over there... ie if u leave ur state u are charged roaming...

PS I have had a postpaid connection since the Rs32/min era & I am quite happy with the concept but I don't think it's for the "masses"

Yes my dear i have had the privilege of asking someone about the mobile plans in USA, it was my bloody brother.:silly:

he lives in chicago for the past 3 years. He initially went and used T mobile as he heard that it was cheap but later shifted to Verizon. he also has fios at his home hence all bills are synced to a single master bill. In his current plans everything is free calling/texting/data. And yes there is nothing like roaming or even long distance calls in USA.

And about ur Brother thing....Americans are not idiots that they sign contracts to stay locked to a op. They do bcoz they get huge discounts/subsidies on the mobile device which is bundled with the plan. If that was the case with ur brother then he should be happy to get phone at highly subsidized rates and if not then may be Canada has bad plans:Boy Thumb Down:.

Hence it the postpaid model is very good only if it comes with a subsidy model and that's the actual reason they have plans like that in usa/europe.

a typical american smartphone user is probably paying at least 60-70 USD per month. that is half the cost of a typical smartphone in US market along with contracts.

yeah the most famous example is iPhone(the first version), it costed some 200$ in USA with contracts. In india people thought that it will cost some 9-10k but to the horror it came with a price tag of 30-35k.
Same thing happened with Iphone4. Hence contracts are not that bad after all.
