whts the point in post paid..?!they inflate the bills and if we forgot to pay them ..then late fee...:X ....want long talktime..means online recharge of large amount.!! and if we are not satisfied ...then we can change it ASAP...not like that wid postpaid!! >.>

The bill frauds and other problems have really bought down the name of Postpaid in our country, otherwise who knows we might have had got something like 99 or 199 unlimited a long time back.

friends, its not about postpaid or prepaid, basic instinct of operators in india are dirty. if you remain in prepaid they will delibratly deduct balance or in postpaid they will inflate the bill unknowningly . operators have to become trustworthy and tansparent before they could offer quality services moreover ifeel this would not happen inturn situation will worsen as operoters have become greedy as customer is not retained for long time.

Postpaid in India? No way my friend. I was in England for good 5 years on postpaid and from my experience, prepaid in India destroys any tariff of any country all over the world. Let's just hope this stays the same way.

yeah the most famous example is iPhone(the first version), it costed some 200$ in USA with contracts. In india people thought that it will cost some 9-10k but to the horror it came with a price tag of 30-35k.
Same thing happened with Iphone4. Hence contracts are not that bad after all.
WTH? The people who bought the iPhone for 200$ had to sign a contract to pay at least ~35$ or something every month for 2 years. How is that a good deal?

^ You find $35 for unlimited national and long distance (Canada included) calling to be expensive?

India will move to postpaid:when the service tax rate reduceswhen the operators give sincere bills

Yes, if my calling is low and i don't want long distance calling. Thing is, here you have freedom to buy a plan according to your needs which is not offered with a contract phone.

and according to AT&T details early iPhone 4 eligibility, pricing | Phones | iOS Central | Macworld, for i4, the cheapest contract is 55$/month.

Oh for such users with low usage, there is the unlocked iPhone 4 available for just $649. People then have the flexibility of choosing Pay as you go (prepaid) plans in this case.

They do, but in those Pay as you go plans, per unit rates are pretty expensive. Here, i get very low rates for calls and sms's (and for data on EDGE) even if my usage is low.
