which is the best instrument to convert airtel BB connection into wi fi for home

hi guys, i've an airtel BB connection & Beetel 110 dx asdl modem, i want to convert this into a wi fi connection for my home use (i've a top floor(7th) flat & aprox 1500sq ft. area to coverrequest your advice regd best equipment & cost. regards

if the modem is on ground floor, n u need wireless coonec at 7th floor - best way - buy a Netgear router approx 1800/- , buy a lan wire CAT5 for ground to 7th floor for connecting wifi to ur modem - Rs. 5-8 per mtr , n up u go...

if everything is in the 7th floor, then just buy any wifi router..Netgear or Linksys are good brands..

Dear superprash2003 & Ashish Thanks for your revert. just to clarify i'll have modem & router both on 7th floor, just wanted to know if you could suggest any specific model (Netgear/Linksys) keeping in mind the beetel 110dx modem compatibility & best security/firewall support plus ease of instalation. thanks in advance for all your help & time. regards

Netgear Range max series.... depending on your budget choose between G or N.... I use netgear rangemax N WNR834B (Rs 4200/- good connectivity with wireless N adaptor about 75 feet away on the same floor.wireless G adaptor gives connectivity 60 feet away(same floor). :thumbsup: Note if you have wireless G adaptor in ur laptop/notebook.go for G series as its half the price. or just buy ordinary Linksys and use it with tommato firmware....( tweaks performance ):redface:

i personally use Netgear, and would say it sucks in general particularly when u try to enable the security features. would say u should go for Linksys, dont no the model number, but they have when which is mailny blue in color, with kind of black base. it is rock solid thought expensive by 2-300

its expensive by more than 10% in the N series.... and Netgear is way more feature rich than Linksys... it lacks only 2 things namely a power switch at the back and a wireless switch which the linksys has....

Buy Linksys WRT54G Or Buffalo WHR G54S (both around 2,000), These 2 are most famous routers in world because of the ability to load 3rd party firmware and increase the range by a lot.

read ur recent post...and as ur coverage requirement for 1500 sqr feet, in my option u dont require a Type N router. get urself a good g series router.

I prefer Linksys over Netgear.
here are some of models which u can lookout for.

WRH54G - 1900
WRT54G - 2200
WRT54G2 - 2300 (~ prices nehru place)

last 1 ( WRT54G2 new one ) has got two internal antennas. and has got good coverage. and i think will be enougf for ur flat.
