Thank you Uberjon, you addressed the issue perfectly. A firmware update is needed in order to unlock full router capabilities.

has anyone checked if Open-WRT or DD-WRT is available for this modem ?
yes me me me me me me.
the chipset is broadcom bcm96328 chipset. Which is a bad chipset.
i have ported openwrt via serial. But i am yet to make adsl work.
i snatched the source from Netgear.
i am working on porting the IP (intellectual property) sh*t code which netgear released.
I been able to integrate that with the kernel, but i have not done much testing,
since my friend wanted his modem back. :-(
i cant say about any ETA when i will make it to work flawlessly using netgear's code drop.
the code is pathetic and porting the 2.6.28 kernel code to 3.10.x is a big problem.
i will update soon, about the progress.
thanks!

p.s. personally i use TP-Link td-w8970 with openwrt and it works like a charm.... xD!

I stumbld upon this, just for finding ddwrtopenwrt support for 2750u. Watching this thread hope against hope :)
