Everything is nice and wonderful except if you are like me and use a VPN or download things hush hush.

I can feel the dpi actively working to suppress my vpn.

I made the terrible mistake of reporting to them that they have blocked access to my vpn's website and since then, not just the website, some of their ips are blocked.

I can't even watch some cricket on some random site

Most illegal stream is blocked.

So goodbye Jio dpi.

They don't just block as per gov request but go beyond it to block other sites.

I am waiting for three months to be over.

A Rs1500 (3000Rs because i paid this isp before Jio) mistake because now I have to pay the local isp for install.

I will just get an android box and slap a good iptv onto it.

These types of practices should be highly discouraged. Jio is kind of making a monopoly in internet segment and enforcing their own rules be it anything..and our government or regulator TRAI doesn't provides any regulation to our 'MotaBhai'.

As @Lolita_Magnum said, if it ticks all or nearly all the boxes for the householder that's like a vast majority of the market. For enthusiasts or geeks there's always another set of providers. This is precisely the reason why my interest in Jio was very quickly doused in cold water when I read feedback on this forum. As for the others in my housing colony, yes I can tell you for sure many would be interested especially if given a better subs price than the current set of ISPs available for us to select from. Jio has postponed its roll out in my area due to some long standing infra problem. I really don't care.

@AAK speak with your wallet as the OP @itachi is doing. Don't opt for them or just give up your connection giving feedback via social media and emails. Nothing scares a Co more than losing its customer based to competition.

@itachi which vpns did you tried which are blocked by jio ? Did changing dns resolved website problem or not ?

Haven't noticed VPN throttling on excitel. I don't do other torrenting etc. Stuff but as Lolita said "JioFiber is good enough for an average Joe which does account for at least 80% of Indians." Is true for almost every ISP in India & I totally agree with it. Even I just do a lot of downloads & uploads that's all I need internet for 😂.

And this can also be said for excitel.
I know looks like a paid promotion 😂 (as always) but really guys 599₹ for 400 Mbps is no brainer for me. Anyways sorry for interrupting. Continue the discussions...

The biggest advantage Jio has, at least in metropolitan areas, is its uptime. In the last 2 years since it has come to my area, it has gone down exactly once and that was when even the cellular went down in entire Mumbai.
Oh, and also the inclusion of OTT and STB.

Do not ever talk to jio customer service they were blocking wireguard ports on warp back earlier this year. They have blocked nordvpn account management website. This block is DNS level block so Nord support suggested me to change DNS to use their streaming capable smart DNS later on my 4k TV.

Absolutely. Even when I had installed Jio Fiber for 1 month it didn't went down.

Although there are issues with every operator all over the country.

Excitel in my area has been the most consistent for me since 2019. Their weakness is the things you guys tested and didn't worked as expected, No STB, No Landline & local support dependent on LCO.
Although now they include OTT apps which can be seperately purchased but looking at their plan prices without OTT it's subsided.

Apart from it growing market share of Excitel in the areas where Jio/Airtel expand in the end is also a factor. It's been all great for me.

And guys one thing I wanna share. Before excitel in 2019 we were looking for fiber broadband since 2017 (Waited till 2019 for Airtel Fiber (when it was V-Fiber, Jio Fiber, ACT & others). Nobody came because our area wasn't feasible. But as soon as excitel came we got it installed and that too because of me as I saw it first 😂.

Anyways so if Jio had came earlier then today I would have been a JioFiber user (but most probably not as they had they 200 GB limits + lesser speeds).

Another thing is that in our area Tata Play, Excitel, Airtel & ACT is installed in 90% of the households who have fiber. Rest are Jio & Local provides. Because everyone (including me in 2021) just took their 1 month trial and returned it.

I personally never liked their speeds because giving 141 Mbps for 150 was like lying at face. That's why.
Although dad was considering taking it's STB & all but I declined and today here we are. So it all depends. Suppose tomorrow if excitel drowns and Jio gives 1Gbps non FUP then I'll be surely jumping there.

We customers are not "sagge" of these companies 😂.

Edit : As @Sayan97 said. I haven't faced anything like that on excitel. Never used VPN to unblock any falsely blocked site. Even Videolan wasn't blocked when it was banned all over India. Some sites are banned but those are the ones which are directed by TRAI. Anyways so that's all.
