Why it is recommended to disable wifi & internet on remaining ports after bridge mode is enabled.Does firewall remain active on other ports & wifi ?

I have enabled bridge mode through airtel backend on 3rd and 4th ports of Airtel(Nokia) fiber modem/router(192.168.1.1) and connected another D-Link router(192.168.0.1) on 4th lan port.
After making pppoe connection through dlink router I am still getting internet through wifi and 1st & 2nd port.

Is it normal way of doing things and can I keep it this way ?

Does firewall remain active on 1st and 2nd port including wifi of Nokia router or it got disabled ?

Also am I allowed by airtel to dial one more pppoe connection through 2nd spare router on 3rd port and access internet from there ?
If possible does it not means we can increase our alloted bandwidth many times through this process over our original subscribed plan by having multiple pppoe connection?

Ok ,you are saying that bandwidth is controlled at account level not at pppoe connections level so by dialling multiple pppoe connection one cannot have increased bandwidth.
Many in this forum claim that one can get increased bandwidth by simultaneous pppoe connections, that why i asked.
I am getting internet both through Airtel Nokia router wifi and also the downstream D-Link router which is connected to isp router through bridge mode and both are dialling pppoe connection at their level with same username and password.
 
Ok guys beside the bandwidth question, can you answer my primary question

if I need to disable wifi and internet on the bridged Airtel provided Nokia router for security reasons as it is said that routing/nat and firewall is disabled on bridged router ?

Or can I still use wifi & non bridged ports 1st and 2nd of airtel Nokia router as bridge is enabled only on it's 3rd and 4th port by backend so may be firewall is still active on 1st and 2nd port including wifi ?

as I am getting private ip assigned in 192.168.1.0 subnet by airtel Nokia router so dhcp/nat/routing must be active on 1st and 2nd port including wifi but i don't know if I continue to use Airtel's router this way because may be firewall is still disabled on that router.

@eastmystic did you specifically ask them to enable bridge mode on two ports only or did they do that on their own? And backend team email is the same as net@airtel.com one?

In my case, despite me asking to enable bridge on one port only they did it on all the ports. And further arguing that it's not possible for specific ports but for the entire router only.
 
@jujuburi i don't know/think that backend team email is net@airtel.com but when you mail on this , they must forward that bridge request to backend because after that you get call from backend about bridge request.

They didn't ask me specifically to open which ports , only if I want to open them.
I on my own initiative, told them to open only 3rd & 4th port.

My router is Nokia G-140W-F so it is definitely possible on that router to be selective opening of ports from backend, i don't know about the other routers
 
@eastmystic thanks. Understood. I also asked them to open one port only but they did all of them anyway. My router is one ZyXEL PMG5617-R20B. They say it's not possible to open specific ports on this one. Don't know whether they are lying or telling the truth.
