I am a Reliance customer from past 3 years residing in Bhopal. the main problem, being a gamer, i suffered is excessively high pings to International Servers, particularly to Europe. During these 3 years, I registered hundreds of complaints but didn't got any Resolution. the ultimate resolution i got was satisfactory pings during 12 night to 12 morning. after 12 morning, the ping spiked so high that you cant even think of playing on it ( from 280 ms to 400 ms, FYI i play on a russian Left 4 Dead 2 Server I.P.- 83.222.97.208).
I Recently posted a Survey on this site, regarding Pings to a specific International Server( the one i wrote above). I was highly disappointed to know that I was having the most dumb and Crappy ISP of India.
Some of the Results of various ISP are as follows
1. Reliance 4 Mbps Bhopal ( Mine ) - 288 ms avg.
2. BSNL Ulhasnagar, MH - 182 ms avg
3. MTNL 8 Mbps Mumbai - 180 ms avg
4. Airtel Chennai - 224 ms
5. Airtel 4g Bangalore - 260 ms
6. Tata Broadband Bhopal - 171 ms
7. Tata Broadband Delhi - 161ms
The main issue lies in the routing of Reliance to International Servers, Lemme explain a bit more easy way.
Suppose there are 3 Roads A, B and C starting from same Start point to same End point.
A is Long but got traffic, B is short but got Traffic and C is short but hasn't got any high traffic.
So Reliance packets travel through Road A, Airtel and BSNL move through Road B and MTNL and Beam Fibre move through Road C.
So if Reliance improves it Routing, than they could make their connection better for Gamers as well as Internet users.( oh please Don't say that Ping is only needed by Gamers, If your ping is bad, your Internet will take more time to Respond and Transfer Data.)
I heard from one of Dota Friend living in my city who owns a 3000 Rs Tata Broadband( Phew..!!), that whenever he gets high ping on any server, he calls his technical department and ask them to improve the ping. And guess what..? Its Improved, Always :D. but most of us can't spend their Hard earned money on such an expensive Internet.
Thanks for Reading guys, Sorry for Bad Grammar :D.
