Why the hell Low Bandwidth and speed??????

hi i'm from mumbai region i took up mtnl broadband in month of dec 2009 , it was a 384kbps unlimited plan i was satisfied with it...speed was around 44~48 kBps in torrents and normal downloads....from march 5th they revised the plans to 752kbps .....1st week was great the speed was according to plan after 15th march...the speed begin to throttle down as bad as 15~25 kBps i was seriously pissed off....i checked my router setting but everything was fine only from is from their end (server end).....i asked technical call center but they said taht nothing is wrong....now-a-days the speed are not back to standard 752kbps ...its between 450~625kbps .....i checked from various speed test sites they provide correct bandwidth result but in real time downloadind its really between 55~80kBps........link-removed speed are also pathetic between 5~65kBps...Can ne 1 provide some guidance on this ??? Thank You.

if you're gettin speeds bet 55 - 80 that means you're getting appropriate speed as per your plan.... for torrent issue, i believe you need to need to make some appropriate settings in ur torrent program... also torrent speed is equally depends on other people (seeders n leechers) upload speed and not only on ur download speed...

aree yaar pehle sab barabar tha yaar last 2 week se ye problems aa rahi hai yaar torrents ka jaa tak sawaal hai koi bhi type ki file ho seeders -leechers proper hone par bhi speed improper aa rahe hai...and Mtnl by the promises >80% of total bandwidth allotted on plans higher than 512kbps... wats ur take on this...it never happened b4 its happening from last 2 weeks...upgrade se pehle link-removed download according 2 plan tha yaar...

Hey...I am from Mumabi too. If you can go through my topic https://broadband.forum/mtnl-broadband/58563-ping-and-speed-test-fluctuates-lot-recently/
and see if you are having the same problem. I am getting the same speed you mentioned. But it gets normal sometime. If this is same then there must be problems from server.

Brother I m facing exactly d same issue from last 2 weeks after upgradation. My torrent speeds hav been pathetic. Not going above 28-30kbps even after port forwarding. All speed test results show ok. Earlier on torrents i used 2 get 58-59 kbps on 512k plan. Surfing now is sluggish, so is the direct download speeds. This kinda problem is very difficult 2 explain to d line man or area engineer.

If you people are facing the bandwidth problem within main city limits then what about me, I live in fringe area of Mumbai, i.e. Panvel which is a distant suburb of Mumbai. The conditions are very very bad here...:wall: . From an excellent download speed about a fortnight ago to extremely poor bandwidth now..My broadband service is almost equals to old dialup download speed now..

Well seeing at your Sig it seems you were given about 2mbps speed, and if I am not wrong you should have a 749 UL plan? And now you are getting either 42 or 80 kbps download speed?? If all is right...then you are getting right speed.....just guessing
Mtnl provide a high speed at first and then drops down to the real speed. Sad truth :wall:

I had a 512kbps 999 plan that went up to 1MBps plan and my actual downloads were around 200+ kbps and Speedtest.net was 1.8 Mbps etc. Now its all freaking gone. Speedtest.net goes anywhere from .30 - 0.50 and few times 0.80 Mbps. Download speeds are non existant.. 10-30kbps.. almost like a 256k connection. I am based in Juhu/ Andheri area Mumbai with exchange :625What area / exchange are you guys?

Yes me too experiencing regular disconnects esp if I start multiple downloads, adsl just drops. Sale baba log jag uthe hai lagta hai.

Yaar Still not getting the right speed to make matter worse...speed has drop down to 5~25 kBps....its quite funny u apply for 752kbps plan and u get is 5~25kBps speed LOL................i complained at the 198 service, the line line man calls at the land line asks for name, and is if line is working or not and just cuts the phone,,,,visited the exchange same procedure happened again no speed change,,seriously thinking going to exchange again.. wats ur take guys have ur speed been affected last few days????and my exchange is Juhu-Danda...Mumbai(West 1).
