Gmail Offline works very nicely.

I actually use it as my primary email client on a lot of days.

I also like this one:

But it seems to not handle offline well. Probably because I do not run it 24x7.

Of course you already have Thunderbird. Postbox is paid but the latest version is so nice that I would pay for it (again) because of the features they have added to it.

Looks like an update today has fixed the Mail App. I am getting mails on Gmail, Hotmail & Yahoo accounts.

Was not working yesterday. They have fixed the server name for Hotmail. Not sure what was done for Gmail & Yahoo..

@chromaniac please correct me if i missed anything

i installed Linux Mint Kde 64 bit Rafaela version on 1 TB hard, 2GB ram, no partitions, guided install, then added " prelink , wine , swapspace " packages, have firewall set to deny all incoming.

have i missed anything here ?

i am able to run vms through virtualbox no speed issues, other apps also load utra fast.

Looks like an update today has fixed the Mail App.

No such luck here. Both the apps are completely unusable

I need to check the notification part. I am getting the emails, but no alerts.

Apparently banner & sound for the mail app isn't sufficient, it needs to be turned on at each account level in settings within the app.. And "off" seems to be the default.
