Interestingly, there is also appears to be a built-in Yellow Pages, so if the person or place is not in your contacts, it can search outside of your phonebook to bring you any results in a seamless experience.

Smart dialing is ok, but Yellow Pages integration directly in OS would be good to have

i miss the integrated google search on the dialer on the moto turbo. it was a great feature on nexus. i believe it is also included in custom roms but i have no plans to get a custom rom just for this feature.

What did integrated Google search in dialer do? Display contact details for numbers not in contact list?

i can search for pizza places (or any business listed on google maps) in my locality (based on my gps location and otherwise) from inside the dialer. and if i get a call from a business that has a listing on google maps, google shows the name and logo on screen.

this below is an android feature but kind of connected.
google+ integration means that i can allow others to see my profile details if i call them and i am not in their directory. same for incoming calls. it of course also syncs the user data. so if i change my number in my google+ profile and you have me in your circles, my data would be updated on your phone so you automatically get my new and latest number.
