well this has been pretty clear already. what is not clear is the status of retail copies if upgraded to free w10 license. is it connected to the device itself or can be transferred like regular retail upgrade licenses.

If I am not wrong then I read somewhere that Windows 10 will be free forever as long as your device is working.

Now I am running windows 7 genuine that came with my laptop but running it inside Virtualbox from about 3-4 years now.

Since its a virtualbox - when my laptop is about to die - I can migrate Virtualbox to some other PC.

Will Windows 10 still be valid at that time because all the configurations (virtual hardware) will remain same on Virtualbox.
