Windows 10

nope. once you buy it or upgrade for free during the first year, you will get free updates as long as your device is supported. Microsoft wants to follow google's model of android - get revenue from ads in search results, share in app sales in store, etc

I guess I would try to score a retail copy of W10 from my friend who works at Microsoft to keep my reinstalls simple. And sell the retail copy of Windows 8 to recover some of the money. I hope Microsofties still get massive discounts on retail editions.

I am planning for same though I already own geniune Win 7 and Win 8 CDs with me got from friend working at Microsoft.
Having cheap copy of fresh Win 10 installation is good to have for all future re-installs as it may be painful to re-install Win 8 and upgrade all over again to Win 10.

You can sell your copy of windows?? I mean legally?

If yes, how much can one expect from Windows 7?

It's a retail edition. With a serial number. Of course I can sell it to anyone. And anyone can use it to get Windows 10 for free once it is out later this month.

I have a win Vista and a win 7 retail, which I upgraded to win 8 then will upgrade to win 10. I am using the insider preview on both the machines and guess will have to wait till 29th July to see if these machines require any of the old codes for going to the retail version of win 10, then sell them
