I upgraded one machine from win 8.1 to win 10 Pro 64 bit.
I have a peculiar problem now. My airtel broadband speed drops to kbps after using it
for a while on the Win 10 machine.
All downloads freeze and I have to reboot the machine to get it to work again.
There is nothing wrong with the modem. An alternate machine connected on
the same switch (airtel is in pppoe mode) is able to access the internet
without a problem. The net issue didn't come up in 8.1 as this machine was
being used without a problem for over a year.
All drivers for the onboard lan are
windows wddm default downloaded by Win10
during the setup. I did a clean install (don't keep anything from old installation)
Default win10 firewall on the machine too.
Another thing to make it interesting is that a dial up connection to BSNL (bridge mode)
on the same machine gives me great net connectivity and speeds! Go figure!
What could be the issue?
My LAN setup is like this..
Dekstops -----> 8 port ethernet switch
Airtel (PPPoE) ----> 8 Port switch
BSNL Dataone (Bridge) -----> 8 Port switch
Airtel has been configured as the gateway (192.168.1.3) for all desktops
Machines have static IP on them.
And during the test only with Win10 machine was on - all others shutdown.
So nothing else is taking up the bandwidth.
I would hold on in upgrading my
laptops for a while.
