it looks like windows 10 starts caching the file/folder you select to copy/move in ram or something.
if i cut something big and paste it in another hard disk after a few seconds, the speeds i get is pretty awesome.
files of size around 300mb are basically copied instantly.
I dont think "upgrade" will result in data loss - At the time of upgrade, it will mention the software that might no longer work or be supported - Like the Media Center or any others that might have been lost due to Win7->Wn8 migration as well.
