Microsoft shares script to restore inetpub folder you shouldn’t delete

Microsoft has released a PowerShell script to help restore an empty 'inetpub' folder created by the April 2025 Windows security updates if deleted. As Microsoft previously warned, this folder helps mitigate a high-severity Windows Process Activation privilege escalation vulnerability.

First, they added the folder by mistake. Then they told people not to delete it coz it will cause security issues. And now have released a script for people who deleted it. What sort of patch did they create in the first place that protects by using an empty folder from a software that people never installed?

After installing the June 2025 Windows security update, Windows 11, version 24H2 will retain system restore points for up to 60 days. To apply a restore point, select Open System Restore. Restore points older than 60 days are not available. This 60-day limit will also apply to future versions of Windows 11, version 24H2.

System Restore's first major feature update in its entire existence is to make it weak. Hey, on the other hand, this update will add some AI goodies for you if your PC supports it.
