Hello there ,

Well My UT starcom router broke ,the power button had given up a long time back but just yesterday the power adaptor pin gave way too

As of now the router stands naked with a rubber band holding the power button and with some dedication and patience the power plug pin stands connected.

Wish to buy a new one now a friend suggested a wireless one and I'd probably be getting an laptop in the near future... so this does seem feasable.

I searched the forum onto this ,found a nice thread
Code:
https://broadband.forum/mtnl-broadband/22498-wireless-router-buy/
Went through it but am very confused ... the thread author already had a MTNL router and now needs an wireless solution while I have a near dead router which needs to be replaced with a wireless one.

A query too ,currently my pc has no wireless capabilites so will this wireless router act as a wired one too.

Please suggest me :ashamed:

yes wireless routers do come with wired LAN ports to connect to your pc.. When looking for a wireless router look for an ADSL WIRELESS ROUTER.. remember ADSL cause thats what does the dialing part for MTNL.. so you just need one router to do the dialing and the wifi part..Netgear and Linksys have some good models..

@/members/atul/If the unit was otherwise functioning normal try this. The box seems to contain the AC 220v to DC ( say 6v to 12 V) transformer and connected rectifiers/voltage regulators. .. Any electrician/radio tecnician can restore the power connections, with a new socket ( if same is available ) OR directly connect/solder the power cable. You use an external switch.

Thanks superprash2003 and essbebe After doing some research found 2 devices Netgear DG834G (looks so freaking good as well) and the D-Link DSL-2640T ... read a few posts on a forum that the dlink has overheating problems. Iam inclined towards the Netgear one ... do suggest me if i should go ahead with this one ,especially will I be able to use it as a wired router as of now. :)

@members/atul/Send PM to @mrbgupta who has recently purchased this / DG834g model . for his opinion./cost etc. You have stated that your old Ur300R2U is having power connector problems. If you get it repaired , continue to use it ( unless you have other problems like not able to do Port forwarding etc ). Net gear.DG834G . You can use it for wired connection.Linksys also equally good.

Net gear.DG834G is used for WIFI purposes ( for laptop mobility in the house ) in combination with an adsl2+modem. ( will check and confirm later )

Hi Essbebe ,I thought of putting it into repairs but I actually want to give it back to MTNL (even though it'd be a feat in itself) ,just want to let them know how 3rd grade their hardware devices are.

Onto the Netgear router ,will PM him although do get back to me if you can, thanks again :)

That does look sweet. How is the performance, and what was it's cost?
