DI-714P+ is another model which seems interesting from the D-Link stable besides a few more there on store. This would require a deeper study than I presumed while choosing a DSL Router which is Wifi enabled.

What is the difference between a normal modem and the one I am going to get with dataone internet?

Friends,The DI-714P+ does not integrate an ADSL modem ! Has a print server, but I don't know if it can be put to any use by home users !It's better to go for the G604T as it integrates ADSL modem+4port switch+wi-fi router. Single package, no mess. Just surrender the utstar modem and relax! :DJoe,U are going to get an ADSL Modem+Router with DataOne. [Utstar/Huwaei] :)

O yeah, ur right, the modem suggested by you has a Modem built in inside it so we need not buy the modem from the BSNL guys if we got for this wireless router cum modem suggested by you.Excellent observation there.

i have huwai modem (MT800)and smc wireless router and smc usb network adapter. its working fine. some times after some inactivity in network the connection drops off. i tried all settings, no luck. can you suggest what may be the problem.

the connection is "always on" if i connect it through cable to router, it does not have any problem i am finding the problem with wireless network connection. does anyone have this problem.

Thanks again...will call up Vikash for the price quote..but what's the procedure for returning back the BSNL supplied modem ? I thought we have signed a One year plan..also, if we return and get a new one, we have to configure that right ?cheers !Tunkai

SirI used to have the problem of Line Drop like yours but it was the other way round. Direct to the Moded I used to drop off very frequently but thru the Wireless the droping was less. ANd the modem used to not dial on its own thereafter while wireless used to.Then I read in this very forum about Keep ALive and I did that. The problem stopped but my usage increased but I dint mind that. The line drop was not there when I continuously d/l any thing.Soon I removed Keep ALive settings and saw BSNL had made some corrections and all ran well. SO I suggest u do the needful for Keep Alive.
