I had to remove my patch cord from my ont to Nokia GPON router coz my fiber connection was not working and airtel customer tech over the phone asked me to remove the green connector of the yellow patch cord from the router and reconnect again... I removed it and accidentally looked into it for a couple of seconds and then reconnected it... Although it didn't work coz later it was found that somebody cut our building cable...

But after that call I am freaking out whether i could have damaged my eyes coz I am reading from sources that fiber is actually laser and I am worried whether this has affected my eyes or not. Can this momentary laser light in anyway affect my eyesight? Does anyone who have more knowledge of fiber optic cables or FTTH help me out here on this?

Yes it's light/laser. Don't look at that.

If it was disconnected then there should be no harm, as there should be no active light beam.

Nah, you would be good my engineer said there are possibilities, but he said we also look it always & till now no issue happened he said at the box level & the junction box things are very safe until & unless the main junction box wire break we do not attend it only our seniors do those things & yes having precautions is still better than regrets after damage.
