If you are spritually inclined or you want peace of mind throughout the day, definitely channels Moksha (New Age Music and spritual chants and speaches), Art of Living (Ravishankar speaches and superb melodious bajans), SGH (Sai global Harmony - Bajans and speaches of Sri saibaba) will feed your soul. For this personally I am ready to pay any amount. I keep my worldpspace by my bedside and it is always switched on between 8 PM and 8 AM and on sundays almost the whole day. You can forget about mind poisoning channels of TV and FM and have a peaceful life. It is pathetic world space is not able to promote such a wonderful service. very poor marketing.

For the radio to cost Rs.4,000 and subscription of almost cable television, this will never never be a popular item. People tend to like this service only if they already own. Otherwise, they normally do not spend Rs.4,000 on hardware, which is useless unless you keep paying Rs.1,800 per year.

Worldspace is in a much higher quality level (quality of content) than FM stations. FM stations give you the latest popular numbers if you prefer local or Hindi filimy music. That is all. Worldspace is full recipie. Actually, there is no comparison. Both cater to completely different sphere.


I think you are gravely mistaken here. Have you heard or listened to Power 107.8 FM ? Its one of the best...in fact the BEST FTA FM station I have ever come across. They play the latest Hindi and International music for your information. In fact in an hour, if they play 5 Hindi tracks, then they will play atleast 4 international tracks in the same hour and the latest tracks only. And the best part of Power FM is that, there is little or NO TALKS in this station. Yes...Its true. It is the only FTA FM to offer more music and no chit-chat. I mean the RJs here just announce the name of tracks and their respective albums/films, which I feel is completely OK and very much needed.

Secondly, Power FM is the only expection. All other FM stations does not air any international music and to top it off, much of the air time is filled with chit-chat from the RJs which I hate the most, be it Red FM, Meow FM, Big FM, Friends FM, Radio One, etc. In fact the worst is Radio Mirchi...Gosh...The RJ there talks so much....I literally get pissed off with it, they play may be just 3 or 4 songs in an hour. But Power FM is totally different. It rocks. I think you should give it a try, if it is available in your city.

On a third note, thanks for putting in your voice in this thread. International music is the only weakness which might make me subscribe to WS once again. Lets see..what happens.

On a side note if you want more intl. music on your lcoal stations, then its costs the station to play them. Thats why many do chit-chat and few songs played. Or if they play anything its quite old.

That this station can play music, all latest and not much chitchat makes me wonder how they get their money or are they part of a MNC. Otherwise its a pirate station.

It is actually surprising to see how little music is there in FM stations now-a-days and how much more talk / noice is there. In FM stations, I only listen to AIR and not anything else, ever. But, even here, I am sometimes surprised how little is music and how much is talk and talk only.

Are they any domestic talk shows on the radio here, news discussions, or debates , preferably in english ?

Well I am not sure why Google says the site to be harmful. The website has been under construction for a long time now and it still is. I dont know whats taking them so long. Anyways..Power FM does play the latest Hindi & International Music with very little chit-chats. And common...It cant be a pirate station, otherwise the Govt would have cancelled their license.

Power 107.8 FM site's code seems to be fine now. It was probably hacked with inline frame malware previously.

In India, news and current affairs are banned in FM radio except in government owned stations.There are many news, news discussions and current-affairs programs on govt. stations AIR. Some of them like morning-news-review and market-mantra (a stock and MF market review daily) are good.As to International music, All India Radio plays very very good music atleast for 3 or 4 hours daily. I live in Mumbai. I am happy with them. And, at home, of course there is worldspace. Let me try PowerFM and try to give some opinion.But, I very much doubt whether I will shift ever from AIR stations (rainbow and Gold). I have NEVER done that in all the cities I have lived.

They only play well popular and melodious pop music. All time greats and classic pop is also played very often. It is morning 8 to 9 (the perfect time when we drive to office), afternoon 3 hours (i think between 1 to 4, please check it up) and evening 8 to 9. Check it out. You will not regret it.
