you mentioned you are using correct user and password for pppoe... maybe the VCI/VPI numbers are incorrect, let me check this when i get home, i dont remember the numbers right now, maybe someone else can post...

Zarz_123. Please confirm you get connected with UTSTAR OK. VPI/VCI is 0_35
Ut 300r2u - India Broadband Wiki
Hope you have configured TCP/IP in computer as select assign Ip automatically.
dns you can enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222.
2. If Wrh54g is modem+router+wifi try it seperately. Use the wizard.
LINK select country as U.S
and select model for quick installation wizard etc.
Better download user manual/s etc for future use.

i called up bsnl they gave me DNSthe tcp/ip setting is set correctthe problem is:WHEN I CONNECT MY PC WITH THE DIRECT MODEM no problem evrythin works fineso no prblem with that thing my UTSTAR router is configured my net works with it.now when i connect the Linksys router to the UT300 the net connection shows disconnected And message comes"cant connect to PPPoE"the status shows ip as 0.0.0.0subnet as 0.0.0.0gateway as 0.0.0.0but dns its showing but i have give evrythin in the setup includin subnet, gateway and ipnow i can connect the linksys router with my laptop thru wifi so i guess no probs therebut cant surf the netis it that this modem doesnt support ADSL??is there ne diference between DSL and ADSL??my mom too angry on me for buying HELPPPPPPpppp :((((

1.Try this . Connect the Rj45 from UTstar to Lan2 of Linksys. then lan1 to computer. ( instead of WAn port or internet port )2. Did you try Linksys seperately? It does not need a modem .3. As most of us may not have the linksy's router , your feed back is important. After step 1 , even if it does not work, 4. try start/network/LAN/Properties /TCP/Ip properties Select Assign IP address automatically. In dns enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67. 222.222 ( Note BSNL dns in notebook, for future use /reference )5. start/run type cmd type ipconfig/allpost the result here.

Problem:
now i can connect the Linksys router with my laptop thru wifi so i guess no probs there
but cant surf the net
1. After step 1 , even if it does not work,
A. try start/network/LAN/Properties /TCP/Ip properties Select Assign IP address automatically.
In dns enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67. 222.222 ( Note BSNL dns in notebook, for future use /reference )
B start/run type cmd type ipconfig/all
Post the results here.
2. see para three. some confusion here. will check up.
3. The DNS are openDNS . will work for any ISP.. or if you are particular use one of BSNl and one of OpenDNS.?

Para two: a)Are you using "Dialup" mode or "Always on " mode with UTstar 300R2U modem.
b) Did you select Enable DHCP and give range as 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.40
c) How many computers you are using?
Para three: Many thanks to @kingpin. ( in MTNL forum)

hi zarz I was looking at owning this model but dropped the idea and went for the bsnl modem itself
but I do beleive I can help u on this do let me know if it works
make sure that the light behind the Cisco bridge emblem is yellow and not white first of all

connect the modem to the system using RJ45(lan cable) to the first port of the modem
then type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter
the username and password is admin
(same for bsnl till here)

let dhcp be automatic

ip address is dynamic
subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

then in type of net connection select ppoe
enter the username and password given by bsnl

dhcp server is to be enabled
the time is to be set to +530

then save and try connecting should work :dance::thumb::thumb:

also go the windows network setup and make sure the gateway address reads as 192.168.1.1
for this go to connection status>properties>tcp/ip>properties

this should get working

do inform me how this modem works compared to the bsnl modem

my apologies for capitalisations and not step by step instructions

take care

shyamal
