Xbox will support Digital and Discs both

XBOX CEO Asha Sharma says that gamers want physical media, so they are announcing when you purchase a game you get both

They are keeping physical discs, and when you buy one it will come with a digital entitlement

How it will work:

• Put the disc in an Xbox that has a disc drive
• Launch the game
• Claim a digital license on your Xbox account
• After that, you can play the game without putting the disc in, the disk will still work like a normal game disk

The digital license is tied to that specific disc, not permanently locked to you foreverIf you sell or give the disc away and the new owner inserts it and claims it, the digital license moves to their account and comes off yours

This is the way it would be. Getting both physical media and digital media that you can own and sell.

They are blocking just any account nowadays. Just a few days ago, I saw someone posting about how their accounts were blocked in whole India because they posted their negative experience with some Royal Enfield service centre.

I usually do not buy games on discs much these days, but this is a welcome move, especially for those games which aren't available to purchase digitally anymore. Also, just imagine inserting a disc in an Xbox One/ Series X and being able to access the game on current and future consoles that do not have a disc drive - this has got to be one of Xbox's more pro-consumer moves in recent times. Imo, Sony should have done something similar, but they really seem to like negative PR.
