OT, but how is/was the tata indicom CDMA network in and around NCR?

I actually had no problem with it. Worked great everywhere I want (which is not that many places though). Panipat, Amritsar, Katra, NCR, Goa... Worked great. I would not have gotten it disconnected if the handset I had had not stopped working. Did not want to get a shitty replacement for the Nokia phone that was quite great.

i have no data usage experience though. i only used it to make calls. and that phone worked from my basement great!

Data works fine here. So, I'm assuming with decent signal strength, it should be fine there too
