I requested for migrating to Transonic 8mbps/60GB plan Rs 1250 per month and the confirmation mail says post FUP speed is 512 kbps. :tasty:

Btw, this is in Bangalore.....effective within one week with billing on prorata basis.

i can finish 60GB in just a day, rest 29 days of the month my mind would be peaceful with 512Kbps, wow airtel kya baat hai, tumne to meri life bana di, you gave me peace of mind aur mere se Rs.1250 bhi cheen liye, ab tum woh paise ka 5 star hotel mein ek din ka ek aadmi ka khana khao maze se, i am so happy for you airtel babus lolz..:applause:

The post-FUP speed for 8/16mbps is 512kbps in every city.

Last time I checked with them they said it was 256kbps

You wrote in on 19-08-2012, regarding speed for your airtel fixedline 080xxxxxxxx

We would like to inform you that as per our records currently you are in airtel - Turbo Plus 150 GB 2099 (4Mbps/256Kbps) Combo UL Plan

Furthur we would like to inform you that the speed post Fair Usage Limit will be 256 Kbps for the bill plans offering high speed data transfer.

To Customer Support, Airtel

Please let me know what is the speed after data transfer limit is exceeded for
the new 20mbps, 16mbps and 8 mbps plans.

Free voice calls apply only to local calls

Thanks to email my phone calls are drastically reduced. I do not make much local calls either.

@genie: For 2/4 mbps, the post-FUP speed is still 256kbps. Only for 8/16 mbps, the post-FUP speed is 512kbps.At the time you emailed, it was probably 256kbps as I see in the spreadsheet that the Rapid 150 plan has a post-FUP speed of 256kbps only. That plan along with Turbo 150 and Max 150 have been scrapped now.

At the time you emailed, it was probably 256kbps...

Yes.....at that time post fup 512kbps for the new high speed plans was available only for Delhi NCR

I guess 512kbps will eventually be provided for all locations but it is not yet mentioned in the plan details.

well regulations would eventually be implemented and 512k would become the minimum speeds on broadband branded plans. i guess airtel is just preparing for that eventuality by offering it as minimum on their high end connections.

Comply with regulations and eventually have to be competitive as well

I doubt how much of an improvement 512kbps is. Well, you can download a maximum of 225mb in an hour. I remember the 512k days in 2006-8.I guess it's better than 256kbps.
